They sure do know how to play the game and obviously have the confidence that they can still go "fast enough" after the re-factoring.
They also good business people as I'm willing to bet that some of the DP teams that are struggling become Barton customers.

I saw Carey Bales testing with Merryfield's DP at US 41 last Saturday night. They were #3 last year at 1.73 under. This year they weren't even going to Indy because the car has been hit 4 times and can now only run .7 or so under. Looks like they should have gone, the bubble was only .631 under.

Yes, the new cars are killer on heads-up runs, but they have not been very successful in the bracket racing part.
That car last year was rated at 305 it's now over 400 and Keith Lynch was #4 or 5 qualifier with that same 5.7 combination. All it tells me is that once you start getting factored closer to what you should be you have to actually work on your car.

God forbid they have to write a check AND work on it, lol

I'm repeating myself, but the new engines that are introduced to stock should be 1.25 Hp per C.I. and let them run the HP down. Instead of sandbagging to hold onto the advantage of the bogas HP ratings that they are currently running. Any combo with power adder be put at 1.75 HP per C.I.
I'm sure that there many racers with older cars would love to have their Stock factory HP put back on the rides. I know that I could shed off 200 lbs from my combo if NHRA went back to original HP rating from the factory or move down 2 classes. That would put all the Z/28s able to move down 2 classes, that would be the same as the new engines in the classes that they are in. I'm not crying about the new cars, I really like them, but just want a fair playing field when they bring a new vehicle online to race in stock.

BTW, Great Job David!

Angry Re: Go david barton

X tech man you are full of yourself and don't have a clue what your talking about . I bought a 2008 mustang , spent money working on it . Took it to the track and run it has hard has I can . It runs 1.05 - 1.10 under and its 50lbs over weight . How is that car so over factored ? the motor has not been tricked out (yet) but that has nothing to do with the car being under factored from Ford or NHRA.

I also have a 2012 super cobra jet , picked it up from Tasac ford , had it tuned and it runs .97- 1.02 under in factory trim , and is 25 lbs over weight , and the motor has not been tricked out .Again how is this car so under factored ?

Another thought , who would buy these cars if they were slow ? so they need to be fast to sell . I no your sitting at home and not here , but here at the races there are a bunch of young guy racing new cars which is good for the sport

So to me as some one actually who races these car's they don't seem like they are that under rated from the factory . And every time I go 1.00 under AHFS kicks in and keeps track of it .

For the record I leaned my SS/BA car out to trying to go faster and burned the rings up in the car and withdrew from the race to let someone else have my spot to race . The car did not blow up and its still running its just got 35% on the leak down gage

I talked with David and Ray in the lanes and they stated the car would go 1.50 under but tuned it back, so again most of you guys posting here don't no what your are talking about for the simple reason that your not here racing.

I tip my hat to David and Ray Barton for the run they made ,they worked on that combo for 2 years and made it count and they will sell motors on Monday for there efforts.

The main issue with new vs old is technology and better parts and you cant stop car companies from building better cars . It would be UN American to penalize these cars and racers who buy them just because they are moving forward

Lastly , when you were a tech man was anything really stock ? You take credit for Top Stock in IHRA but when I started racing that class they were all cheating and no one did nothing about it including you . X tech man get a race car and race or shut the ***k up . There are plenty of guy racing well into their 70"s and even a top fuel guy 84 all of whom I respect and enjoy racing with and hope I will be able to do the same.

As long as you race everyone should voice their opinions , non racer should stop bitching about things they no nothing about . X tech man have you driven a new ford , Mopar or Chevy lately they are all great American cars

That is exactly why it is underfactored!!!! You haven't done anything to the motors! Most cars have to have absolutely everything within the rules done to them to go that fast!

X Tech , (bite me ) Bring it over if your man enough. I'm not hard to find at the races. And I don't live that far away from you. Call me and we can do lunch

I was tossed for my crank in 2008 . My throttle body was 75.4 the next year 2009, should have been 75mm . Get your facts straight. Never had a bad intake or ported polished TB on my A/sa car or super stock . Every infraction I had was in Super Stock and at Indy. You don't no jack ***** same as every other post you make. Just BS

Uh....I happen to see the throttle body and hold it in my grubby hands (it was confiscated.....remember) ole boy and was told the WHOLE story from an NHRA tech official. Typical loud mouth.
