Seems great to race a minimal modified car but...is any actual class racing done or is it all Dial-in? And a Spec Cam for all ? Isnt the factoring issue STILL a big factor? ( not a joke)

May not be perfect! But over some 30 plus years has leveled out. Tweak here and there to keep it balanced happens often. Why you see HP corrections! Stock and Super Stock require study. This is not Bracket Racing..where you can build a mild BB to run 11s. Shove it in any chassis and race. S/SS you have to have all the systems up to compete. That is the science and art running Pure Stock, Stock or Super Stock. Rule racing where Smokey Yurnick would be proud of us. Dan |

Dan, My question was are there meets with Heads up Class racing? or are all the races Dial in?
Knowing Smokey used a lot of "questionable" methods is an interesting comment. |

There are a few C.I.C. races for class cars ( heads up off their respective indexes) 2 that I know of so far this year. I ran my first CIC race at the Class Nationals last month. That was fun. Also, and I did not go to it, but there was one in Bella Rose, LA earlier this year. It was not an official NHRA race,( no h.p. hits) but it did run in conjunction with the NHRA event that weekend. I have never heard of an IHRA CIC race tho. Maybe Dan can answer, but I believe if the same class Pure Stocker pairs up with another same class car during eliminations, then it becomes a heads up run ??

Pure Stock is no different than any other class. Interesting there are a lot of F, G and H cars out there. Sooner or later there will be a heads up race..! Then bragging rights will come forth !! ![]() My goal is to take on Mike heads up in F/PS Getting closer though not quite there. Mike bet you a dollar I beat you ![]() Dan |

I like pure stock but won't be running it soon,Ky doesn't have any races close in IHRA,I have alot of racing close to home as a stocker, but going to keep my pure stock engine and trans, unless someone wants to buy it.
I will never build a car again that doesn't fit NHRA and IHRA. My advice to anyone thinking of building a pure stock car, build a late model car they can go quick and still be able to street drive them. I don't care anything about being able to street drive my car,but when originally built it was the plan to be able to drive to track and race it,but had to lose the street-ability to be able to catch up with Bobby Butler's Mustang and then Don? Maroon mustang from around Cincy and McGee's chevelle wagon. Dan, a LT-1 against a carbed, smog motor 305,why you want to pick on me. Mike Taylor 3601 |
