I'm with you on this James, in my case I would be a good tenth short of making the field and I never was much for doing something just to say I did it.

For the last 2 years, the quota for Stock and Super Stock was 200, why should this year be any different?
With only 1 grade pt they knew they were taking a chance of possibly not getting in. I know the quota has been 200 before but it's also been at 180 several other years. The guys that said it's a money grab by NHRA are exactly right. By opening up another 20 spots you're putting 20 more guys on the outside looking in and making the week that much worse for them too.

My nephew brother and I have raced @ Indy in the past w/ 3 different cars. Donated for the most part, got in the Elim. once and enjoyed the experience. Knew going in that Stock morphed into a checkbook class but wanted to play anyway. Now Indy is completely not feasible for us anymore, we'll keep at it but..........

Agree with you James. Although, the new car count is down to 57 cars this year. Most will get in the top half. Nice to see nhra out in the open.

I can appreciate everyone's opinion on this, but for me it isn't about saying I had done it, it was a matter of the experiencing the greatest event of Stock/Super Stock drag racing. The best of the best. Win, loose or not even qualifying it's the pinnacle of the sport.

Ditto Frank. It's still the Big Show. Always been the Big Show. You see friends you don't see anywhere, and it's a Big Show. If you don't want to even try to get in, then borrow a car, steal a car, cheat (an extra hundred cubic inches will normally work), or you can drink beer with Capt Jack, Bigg and myself. That's worth the price of admission. One half cup nitro in the pan is worth 3 or 4, a full cup puts the rods and the pistons at an exit point. Or you can drink beer with the aforementioned and Roy Hill. Stories abound, most are true. That is worth twice the price of admission.

Bernie don't forget to remind Dan F to get in Indy. You do remember Dan F, the racer everyone wants to beat but not many enjoy him in the other lane.

I know of 4 guys headed from California and only one of them is a FS car. They all feel they will qualify. Make us proud.
