Growing up in D1 I've got to see some pretty cool car names. Mr. Boudreau's golddigger is probobly the most known being it was on so many cars he has had. Jerry Stein had the Teacher's Pet, and for the ford guys out there. Jim Conte, Sr. campained the Shockwave 68 fastback mustang that most people that know jimmy and his dad remember it being blue with white shelby stripes the last time they raced the car. Gotta give props to Wally Clark too! He had a million cars and they all said Wally Clark on the side! That should be up there with car names. At least out here on the east coast! and also Jim Bouburka and of course Joe Scott! They had many cars with simply there name on. Very fast and great looking cars also!

Car names were always cool. I remember a 62-63 D/G Nova, local car named "Poppin Fresh". Another one I recall, a case where the owner of the car made the name. It was a homebrew AA/GS owned by Ed Allen, I think that was his last name, forgive me, I'm going back 35-36 or so years, had "BIG ED" painted on the side. Big Ed was a character. He worked on that car out of a little one car garage, I'll use that term loosely, attached to his house. First time I met him, he shook my hand and then yelled out "Mommy, cook these boys up some of that fresh sausage and feed'em a sandwich, they look hungry"! Ed was to put it kindly, a big guy. The car would be a deathtrap by todays standards. A crude frame with a blown 392 Hemi bolted to it. Robert Swartz
