There must be at least a dozen other station wagons that would fit into this category...

My 68 Impala (picture to left) was an original 427/425 HP, 4 speed, 4:10 car at 3900 ilb. I sold it with the original number matching motor, it has since been restored to the stock condition Beautiful car. I drove it around for 20 plus years with that motor! Put a Turbo 400 in it once, ran it. Went 13.45 at 102 with a crappy converter.

Low horse 427 in a 4 door cheapo body style with a three on the tree. Saw this one in person in late 60's I guess it was a old cop car. We seem to get alot of these type of cars in northern MN.

1969 Chevrolet Impala SS-427
# 4035 lbs. 427/335 HP {LS-1} My neighbor had one. A sharp-looking 'Fathom Green' with a Turbo-400. Over a period of time, it slowly lost Horsepower. It sounded like it was running on 6-Cylinders. My neighbor was no mechanic, so he eventually parked the car on his side-lawn. A few months later I asked him if he wanted to sell it. He thought about it and said $500. I got it for $400. A stretched out Timing Chain and a 'clogged' Fuel Line were the culprits. Last edited by Paul Ceasrine; 07-05-2015 at 04:16 AM. |
