Yeah that suggestion to add a couple more lower classes has come up. A full FWD Stocker would be more prudent against speedier cars. The Muffler rule, IHRA has is right in PS. My car has Headers, Cats and Mufflers and is driven it to the track. Not to mention my ears are not ringing at the end of the day. It also has Air Conditioning and sure refreshing on those hot race days. The Track and Tech guys on the return road get a kick out of that. What I like about Pure Stock is the versitility of my car. It is 100% street legal including emissions. Can drive it to a car show or compete in Solo II autocross. Does not need a Roll Bar and uses street gas. Will run 1/2 second under the index in poor weather. The car is competitive car, easy to maintain and it wins races. Dan |

LOL... no gun used. That truck had been for sale for 2 months but because it is a gas truck, nobody wanted it. When I made my decision to look for a dually gas truck instead of a diesel, I went and looked at it. I was shocked to learn it had the same paint code as my 2 Mustangs. ![]()

^^^ I agree. Mine doesn't have AC and it barely runs the index, but then again, the car still has the original torque convertor. I like the fact that my Pure Stocker can be driven on the street as well as run in Stock Eliminator. ![]() It did feel sort of strange at the IHRA London race that I had the only street car with DOT drag radials running in Stock.

It's a funny thing that you should bring up Truman in regards to Pure Stock. Ask Terry or Danny Waters to tell you about Ts Pure Stockers and you can figure out for yourself why what you are asking for won't fly!

I don't think pure stock needs any rules loosened, they had classes fromA-Z @ one time and had classes for front wheel drives and trucks. I think the front wheel classes got knocked out because of complaints about the rental cars being ran.
Then I think it was cut back around N or O,then changed to 1lbs. weight breaks like it is now with sticks & auto's combined. When I built my car it was street/strip car,but back then had limit on conv. 2500,dot tires, had to use correct rear 7.5 10 bolt in mine. A later model car can still be good pure stocker and drove because of OD trans w/lock up converters, efi, hyd rollers are more streetable. MikeTaylor3601 |

....Just kinda boring with an automatic and stock converter. I would never try driving one to the track with a T 5...I'm sure I could break something.

Billy is correct. He is smart at this game and an old fart (LOL) like Truman and others. What a lot dont know is Truman had 2 Ram Air Firebirds. They BOTH flew. Another fellow drove one (cant remember his name) and I have been in both combos engines for tear down several times years ago. Each were 100% legal and they were built for pure stock rules. Very well prepared cars and prepared like a Jr. stocker of yesteryear. One the other guy ran was an automatic. The stick car that Truman drove still had the old "Rate of Lift" cam in it that he won Indy with back in the stone age when NHRA required the spring pressures, duration and overlap to check. There is really no reason to ask for more rule changes and added expense to run faster or more consistant. Work on your stuff, build it right, and you should be at least approx. one under and deadly consistant unless your trying to race a "Stone" to begin with. To win you dont need to be one plus under anyway. Not only that Truman is a great guy and a hard racer. Follow in some of these old farts wisdom and you will be sucessful. If more guys were like Billy and guys like Truman and enough built pure stockers (Legal ones) the regular stocker guys would scream bloody murder and demand them to be outlawed.
