I love racing at MIR as a lot of you already know! This year the weather was great, and fast as usual.....but the track wasn't! I did notice the burnout boxes were not kept clean, and barely had any water in them! There were rocks and sand tracked from there to the starting line! I approached one of the starting line crew during an oil down and asked him if he could clean up that area on both lanes. He just shook his head and they never did anything during the lengthy oil down clean up! I proceeded to blow the tires off on that run! I've never had that problem there before!! What really sucks is this is during their big event of the year!! No excuse for that!
One thing I really don't understand is why there weren't more Super Stockers than 41!! Especially between Atco pts race and the Virginia Nat'l. Not many NHRA regulars were there in SS! |

That was very surprising to me, as the starting line was well-staffed. They probably could have spent less time trying to direct you perfectly through the water, and more time with a broom.
I was at another big event recently where it was so bad that after I blew the tires off, I marched straight to the starting line, grabbed a broom to push off the rocks and debris. I think the starter's job was to flip that switch, and the burnout box kid's was to spray water. Neither barely glanced at me or seemed to care that I was on their starting line (let alone doing their jobs). More staff was brought in later, and things were fine then.

How about that cat in the water box? He has non stop energy being very comical when he was directing cars in the burnout box, but like you guys said, he never found the energy to do any sweeping. And he got offended if someone else stepped up their to direct their own car in the water box. |

Congratulation Brandon on your first National event final ! 'Ol Craig's tough though. But you did good !
Myron asked me if I was having trouble in the water box up there too. My car will barely spin in any water box, but that one was bad. I told him whenever the guy tried to stop me I just kept going about 3 ft. more and it was much better. Had to get out of that rough stuff. But Budd's Creek has always been a great place to race I think. The last 2 years before this year I didn't bring my R/V and had to use the bathrooms. I was taken aback a bit by 'ol Grady sittin in there with candy and a contribution bucket. But everytime I went those old bathrooms smelled like Gramma's house. The old guy never stopped cleanin and sprayin Lysol. I didn't mind throwin in a buck every now and then to have a clean bathroom. Plus Candy ! ![]() Last year at Jackson the mens room was the most horrid, sloppy, pig sty of a mess I have ever been in. And all weekend long too. Ankle deep in overflow several times I went in. They could take a lesson. See ya'll at the Rock ![]() |

Hey Joe, that was a hellava run between us wasn't it. .003 to a .004 at the tree and less than .04 at the stripe.
Fun run for a class final. I saw Announcer Unk later that night and he remembered our run. I think he can remember every run. lol There were no speakers where we were pitted so I didn't hear much last weekend, but Unk loves S/SS and does a great job for us. ![]() |
