L/SA is 13.5 to 14.00 lbs./hp, so yes, this car's natural class is L/SA
The L/SA index is 13.00-sec. for the quarter-mile and 8.26-sec. for the eighth. Hope this helps... Bill

so when your deciding what engine package you want to run it doesn't have to be out of a 1970 nova but what chevy made that year in 1970 correct?

The good news is that if you have a 1970 Nova, with a little effort, it can be run as anything between 1968 and 1972. That opens up a huge array of options. There are several good small block combinations, the 255/350 is a pretty good one, so is the 300/350. The four barrel combinations are probably easier to make run, for most people. Although they are more expensive, the 350 and 375 HP 396 and 402 engines are pretty good as well.

350/250 or a 350/300 combo in a 1970 NOVA is a natural G car.
You can run F-G-H Also you can run a 350 /255 1969 motor and claim your car a 1969 and run the same classes

Although it's a lot less glamourous, you can run as a '71 with a 250/145 six banger in U or as a '70 with a 230/140 in V. I warn you, though, that itty bitty 1 bbl carb doesn't like bad air. (But it worked for me and still works for Billy!).
