Default Shout out to Iowa State Senate

This a GREAT thing that a STATE SENATE is on the verge of getting a bill signed that could set a precedence for other states to follow. An incredible example of when the correct amount of effort and pragmatic thoughtfulness gets put to use.

The Iowa State Senate passed a bill (HF 645) that protects established race tracks from nuisance lawsuits by surrounding property owners. This means that racetracks that were operating before new development or purchases occurred in the surrounding area will not be able to be sued for noise complaints or other nuisance issues. The bill was passed with strong bipartisan support, with the House voting 92-0 with eight abstentions and the Senate voting 45-0 with five abstentions. The bill was sent to the governor for signature in early May, hopefully soon.

This bill's primary point is to prevent lawsuits from new residents or developers against race tracks that were operating before their arrival. The protection applies to racetracks that were already in operation before the surrounding property was purchased or developed. The bill passed the legislature with overwhelming support, indicating a broad consensus on the need to protect established race tracks. The bill is seen as important for preserving the state's motorsports heritage and supporting the local economy associated with racetracks

This is a good starting point to make a case for our tracks around the country. All it takes is one successful push and some will likely follow. Its worth a shot, right?!

M.J. You are absolutely correct. But, as my late Father used to remind
me, "Son, it is not common sense, it is rare sense."

Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds signed HF 645 into law. It’s a legitimate law now! The attached article is an interesting read and worth the few minutes to do so. It offers a little insight as to what tracks, of any type, have to deal with just to operate legally.
