I was reading too much into it. Greg is right. Div. and opens only count if you go fast enough for instant hp. 1.25 under the new indexes.

The way I see it . The fast guys have another .15 to play with. And the people that could just barely run the index, might have trouble in bad air.
But when you think about it taking a second under to get in the program, in the past.
It really doesn't change much
Personally I like the change

Mickey, all the combinations like the 396's the LT1's the LS1's have high hp ratings while the newer combos will never get hit. I don't really have a problem with the new rules if the combinations are fairly factored. The way it is now is a joke. I can't even run fast enough in my car to get looked at now,and I've got a decent car.

I'm just curious, what happens to all the records now ? Do they change, or do they just start from scratch, or will there be all new records ?
I guess this was to even things out , but it seems to me like the sand baggers will be even farther ahead now.
like if you run all out and your a sec. under , you'll be .7 under now , but if you were holding some at a sec. under , now you can run it hard and still be ahead of the game.

I guess I don't see how an index change affects anyone's current record ... I would think only HP changes would affect records. I would think that class winners are class winners as long as they run under the new index. To me nothing has changed except for the bad boys now have another .15 hun to play with ... Merry Christmas ..

Sounds a little bit too much like a trap if you ask me.....
So a fast car needed to be concerned about going 1.40 under (with the exception of ahfs review triggers at national events)
Indexes lowered .3 - - the instant trigger changed to 1.25
a car can now go up to 1.65 under the old index and not get an instant hit?
if this is correct then to me it looks more like a ploy to weed out the real soft combos

Angelo, you may have hit the nail on the head with that statement.

In the grand scheme of things, this will only hurt the marginal cars close to or not that far under. This will actually be good for the fast cars as they now have an extra .15 to play with. (1.25 trigger plus -.3 index = 1.55 under old index vs. 1.40 under old index before changes).

Does anyone have any insight into whether IHRA will follow suit????
