I remember racing "Yo Kenny" Meile at Englishtown Nat. Event one year with four cars left. My tree comes down, I'm away clean, shift high gear, wave at Winston Vision camera, and look in my rear view mirror to see Kennys light. Kenny leaves clean and all that I can see is the ENTIRE bottom of the car. He put it up so high that it did a wobble on the rear valance. Well, I think that he's done, no one can recover from that and run the number, WRONG! He beats me and wins his first Nat. Event.
Now THAT was impressive and I don't impress easily!

I would have to say Wade's 283 Chevelle. Powerglide and a 283 going 11.40's. How in the hell did that combo get hp taken off?

Steve Tarance V/S Chevy II. It won Combo 1 at the Union Hill many times. For those that have never been to the "Hill" Combo1 was like Comp, you raced off your index with no breakout.

Unhappy Re: Most Impressive car in Stock Elim.

Jim Marshall's Corvette and Bruce Noland's Camaro.
What these guys have done with a 8 1/2 : 1 low compression smog motor with a weak cam is incredible.
Fred Vetter was on to this combo 24 years ago but then it was only rated at 265 HP.
Now, with a 287 HP rating, these guys are still making it shine.
However, with the new DP Dodges and soon the new crate motor Mustangs invading these classes, I believe it might have been all for naught.
Not just the AA/S - B/S guys being affected now but it will ripple half way down the class structure as well.

Since I did most of my racing in Div 5 and haven't raced recently I am voting for an oldie, Richard Charbonneau's 427 Fairlane wagon.

What about the Ficacci's '73 Camaro in this same group?

Thumbs up Re: Most Impressive car in Stock Elim.

I guess you also could just look at Stock National points....everyone's got their hero right now for sure, but who cannot be impressed with the Camaro's of both Ralph Popora and Joe Santangelo Jr.... Along w/a few others.....these 2 seem to be on cruise control. With alot more racing to come....almost anyone in the top 20 could still possibly win this title with a hot streak... Should be a great battle....right to the end. WJ
