"There were a unusual number of no shows due to the fact that earlier the announcer said that stock was through for the day and did not make the correction soon or clear enough. Some left and some started to consume adult beverages and thought better of showing up after that."
Although it is up to the individual racer to make decisions about their behavior at the track, if this truly happened, then the round of stock should have been postponed. That is truly unfair to any competitors who are there spending their money to have fun. If this announcement was an error on the part of the event staff, the NHRA division 3 team as well as the track owners/operators at the very least owe these racers their entry fee back.

Thanks for the kind words about the '62 Pontiac, guys. Sorry to say I broke another motor in the first round of stock. Bob Michael.

Bad afternoon. After about an hour of track drying a rain cell hit and wiped out much of the progress. So Mike Fuller, John Dinkel and I headed out to lunch. We're sitting in town and can see blue skies heading in from the west
A second jet dryer from IRP is here and was ready to fire up when that last rain hit. Racing should be going by 2:30 - 3;00. ![]()

Just about 1 round of everything Is complete. The weather is cooperating and we may just get the second qualifying run that has been moved to the "Show". It's 7:00 and the alcohol cars are ready to go. Because of the rain delay all the classes lost 1 run today.
The day has been incident free. There is a strong tail wind and the barometer is hovering close to 29.0 - the DA 2200+ feet. Temps are in the high 70s. No drama to report from the first qualifying session A number of class cars came in this afternoon - and there is still pit space on the asphalt. ![]()

Yep, got Q1 in for both Stock and Super Stock. Pretty stiff crosswind, moved me around a bit in SS, but not in Stock. Just depends on when it gusts.
They'e in TA/D now, and have called all the Harley classes and PS Snowmobile.
