Eugene Coard (Mutt Bros) had mentioned that in 1971, Big Willie brought one of his Daytona's (King?) to NY to race them, but it didn't happen as they were away racing in Pro Stock at the time. It doesn't make sense though that he'd trailer a car 2,700 miles to race someone without making prior arrangements. Carmen Rotonda is 84 years old and the other day I received a phone call from his grandson who is about 62

He asked me if I remembered the "Brooklyn Heavy car" and when I did he told me the car is sitting in his garage at his home.

Many great stories about the old Rontonda's speed shop in Monclair, N.J. from back in the 60's and 70's

He later purchased Pete Van Iderstines Speed Center in Hanover, N.J.

I had forgotten that at one point Camen had driven the car.

Which Brooklyn Heavy car are you talking about? As far as I know, both his Challenger and Duster wound up "on the other side of the pond."

Perhaps the 1972 Chevrolet Vega is the car in Carmen's garage? I believe this was Grumpy's first Pro Stock Vega but don't quote me on that.

That's okay. I'm pretty sure it's the Vega. I vaguely remember reading somewhere on some forum that Carmen still owned it. Now, what I'd like to know is this the ex-Grumpy's Toy (first) Vega?

NHRA Pro Stock rules clearly state no outer wheel well modifications allowed. How was this car allowed to race with these obviously radiused ones?

It is not Grumpys car. Heavys Vega is the first car built by SRD. I would like to know if it is the Vega. I started a SRD Facebook page. I have an early SRD Vega. Somewhere around 4th car built. I have had Pete Hutchinson verify the car

Grump's car was from what I understand (Derrick Von Bargen and Dick Whitman were part of Grump's "Super Crew" before starting SRD Race Cars).

If I'm incorrect, provide info supporting your assertion.
