Why is Ford getting out of building sedans?

The Fusion is a nice car, but there isn't a lot of demand for it worldwide. It's a small SUV type vehicle in Europe and isn't sold in China. F Series trucks outsold it something like 4-1 in 2017. There's a high performance Focus on the way and the Mustang will move up to the NASCAR cup series next year to replace the Fusion. I think the Fusion body would make a nice SS/GT conversion car.

I don't know who really makes it, but there is a street Cadillac out at the track running in the 11s.

A 4door is not legal for SS/GT. Not that it applies here but a 2 door has to have been originally available with at least a V6 or it is not legal either. Also not that it applies but SS/GT repl drivetrains need to be a V8 combo only, no V6 or 4 cylinder combo are allowed.

The Fusion is known as the Mondeo other than in North America and they sold about 200,000 units in 2017. That with NA sales makes about 400,000 plus sales for the car.

When I was in Germany last year I saw some Fusions (maybe Mondeos) that were sport wagons sort of like the Dodge Magnum. I wished they had those over here, really sharp.

Heh Heh I knew someone would respond sooner or later. . I loved my 1963 390 Police interceptor Fast Back with a 4 speed I had a few years back. It was like new with 53,000 original miles. It was Black with a Red interior and straight as an arrow. You probably could melt it down and make 6 newer Fords out of the steel in it. I love older Mustangs up thru 1970. and most older Fords but you can keep the new stuff. Wished I had kept the 63 !
