Try eBay for an old Craftsman 28-2134, just an old-fashioned straight up timing light. Works great with MSD 6 and 7 series boxes. Dial-back lights not recommended for use with MSDs. I tried one, would not work at all with a 7AL-3.

This looks exactly like the Electronic Specialties, wonder if it's the same light? |

Yeah, the reviews are horrible for the Performance Tool one.

Have had original Sun ,Snap On,MSD,and Sears. All non advance feature. All were good.33 years of engine dyno testing.Currently have Electronics Specialties #130.First one lasted 6 years of constant dyno work.On the second now,For under 80$ cant go wrong.WE usually ask customers to bring their timing lites to dyno session for comparison.Bill C.

When I still had my shop open, I had one of those adjustable lights that was part of my big Sun Engine ‘scope/EngineAnalyzer. I had a SnapOn, and a Sun lights as well. On my race car, I had a 36 degree mark on my dampener that I knew was correct. I checked my timing with those lights, none were right on, nor did any agree with each other. After that, I won’t use one.
Your test results may not agree. I can not imagine anybody simply assuming their dial timing light is correct. I don’t know everything, this is simply what I observed.
