My car still doesn't have a chute or wheelie bars, so I could add those for some of the weight, but nowhere near the S/ST requirements!

Well, a 5" diameter bar that was 5 ft. long would be almost 500 lbs. For suspension performance purposes, I can't say that I'd want 500 lbs. hanging off 2 ft. behind the centerline of the rear axle, but you could probably make it work. You'd better just have some serious supports holding that cantilevered load on the car (according to NHRA rules, it would need twenty 5/8" diameter bolts...I think...it's two 5/8" bolts per 50 lbs., right?)
