I guess having a scoop on my car , I am one of the targets of this thread. Being that you boys are such purist of the class of ss, if we pull the scoop cars out of this class how would you feel about requiring all ss cars to run ONLY the motors that came in that car from the factory??? This would,in my opinion, be the only way for NHRA to make this class _PURE_ SUPER STOCK !! Who's going to lead the way? BOB

Since NHRA Competiton Eliminator car count is down what about moving any car in Super Stock that has an after market Hood scoop on it to Comp eliminator . this would be a good move on NHRA part to help save Comp Eliminator to help increase the car count in that eliminator would be a wise move or a bad move ??.
let it rip boys and girls ps The post has absolutely nothing to do with anyone personally Just a simple post so Please no one read into this other than what was posted .Just maybe a way to save comp if it is in trouble with car count , just a simple statement nothing more everyone wheww it did not take long for everyone to take this idea personally . I ask a simple question >>> Would this would be a good move on NHRA part to help save Comp Eliminator to help increase the car count in that eliminator would be a wise move or a bad move ??. __________________ Don Kennedy

Don,
Are they going to get rid of Comp? Do you know something that the rest of us don't? A few SS cars with scoops wouldn't save it if that was true. There are too many classes in Comp right now as it stands. The cost would increase dramatically for the SS cars as it is hard to continue to run fast consistently in Comp. Ask Mr. Watters he knows the deal. A good engine is 50k+ and it will have to be freshened atleast once a year if not more and that will set you back a big chunk of change. If hood scoop cars were forced to go to Comp, not many would go. They would either change to a non scoop class and remain in SS or just sell for pennies on the dollar and get out. Is that what class racing needs? Less participants? I think you do a good job at stirring the pot though. |

Don, you ask would this be a good move by NHRA to push scoop cars from ss to comp to save comp? First,do you have knowledge that NHRA wants to do this ? Please reply. Second, No this would not be a good move. Out of a 100 ss scoop cars, I doubt that even 10% would make the move. Don't you think that if we could, we would already be there. AND LAST should we require that TRUE ss cars only run the motor that they came with from the factory. Please reply!

It's pretty easy to explain, Comp participation is down because the economy sucks!!!!!!!!!
Just the same as the 'PRO' numbers are down, it costs a bunch 'o cash' to run 'em. Comp guys are mostly filled with small business fellas, that are without sponsorship, that love to race on their own dime but will stop participating when the high cost affects them having a roof over their head or not! It'll come back, have some patience ya'll.
