I wouldn't doubt it one bit Jerry and you know it's just a fad but let's hope we gain a few more spectators while it's on.

If he is or is going to be associated with NHRA, how can he continue the street racing show? It wasn't long ago that NHRA threatened revocation of their competition license against anyone on the show that had any sign of NHRA affiliation and kept participating on the TV show.

I would think that from what people say about t-shirt sales, etc. group may prove you wrong on your comment.Racing needs all the spectators it can get and maybe, just maybe a few more fans were garnered for all of drag racing? Maybe, just maybe your next points meet might have a few new faces brought to you courtesy of Big Chief. JMT.
I like your optimism
I don`t think Chief`s fans will necessarily embrace S/SS.
NHRA won the day by taking him off the street and having him promote their organization. I think most of Chief`s fans like the whole outlaw TV drama.
We need a TV producer to believe in S/SS racing...

I'm pretty sure there is big money to be made by letting a film crew follow Mickey Whaley around!

EXACTLY and he'll go right back to what he was doing before the cameras starting rolling and the scrip read....criminal activity and illegal street racing.

His fifteen minutes of fame, etc. may be over but if sportsman racers get one more new fan what the hell have you got lose? How many of you racers have spent time cultivating fans? How the hell do you think you or NHRA/IHRA will ever gain more fans and spectators if you sit inside your same old box doing the same old ****? Come on. What got most of you younger racers into Stock/ Superstock? How many new racers came from sources other than your dad raced and you got hooked by being active with your dad or family? I'm damn near sixty and when I stared there wasn't much else to start out in like there is today. I've spent time with people who looked at my car and couldn't understand how it ran as quick as it did with so much OEM old school carb, intake, etc. Getting spectators engaged will gather new fans but racers have to get involved and promote. JMT.

I don't blame the guy one bit for capitilizing while he can. And when the dust settles he'll have been compensated nicely.

Good for him.

Some people get it and some people don't. I watch the show and I enjoy it. It's about fast cars and car guys hanging at each other's shops talking about racing. What's not to like. Don't be so sure Big Chief won't be around for a long time, he's already been around longer than 15 minutes. The show is getting ready to start its 8th season and he is getting bigger and bigger. I kind of see him as a modern day John Force.

X2 !!

You haters do realize they are racing in a controlled environment, not on open public streets, don't you? Yes they play like they are doing something wrong but everyone should know by now what is really going on. Do you really think law enforcement would allow this to continue if it was really "illegal street racing"?

He's taking advantage of a situation he has been put in with the TV deal. He'd be a fool not to take advantage of his 15 minutes of fame.

You mean people just don't go around setting up light towers on public roads to do some illegal racing? Lol!
Another thing to consider, with all that money he made this week selling shirts he probably earned enough to buy a few more tenths. I think he will be back and if he brings some followers along to our events, I say kudos to him.
Still think Mickey would make a better show though!
