I remember changing a transmission in a Corvair when I was probably 16-17. We did it in a barn! That was one of the most miserable jobs I had to do in my life. As few of them as there are now, they are neat cars, today. As long as I don't have to work on it.

Bruce Sizemore ran a Pinto with a bored out 300, he cut up sets of boss 302 heads and had them furnace brazed together. Can't remember the year but I do remember that he ran so fast that he could have qualified for pro stock at least 4 times that year. I ran an MP '65 Valiant with a slant six and a 4 speed that year. |

Any one remember the Corvair that ran IHRA super stock in the 80's? IHRA had a class K,L,and M for the "non traditional" V8 cars and it fit in one of them. I remember seeing it run against some "faster" cars and get some BIG spots. If memory serves me, it had two Holly 2bbls. on it and ran in the production class. It was brown and has some SHORT rear tires on it. I heard the story that it got tore down once and the tech guys were scratching their heads trying to figure out what they were looking at lol! I think the car was from Michigan. Don Jackson

Back in the Sanair days i really liked Frank and Linda Mazi's blown Opel and Terry Hoards screaming "ROTARY" Mazda. Then it was any small cube SBC that ran Modified, Comp, Gas or Altered that had to be "ROWED" down the track. --- and i couldn't possibly forget the cold beer and hot chicks, but thats for another thread --- LOL
