With the talk of 1000' racing for everyone, and test cases of 1/8 mile, my input would be that Super Classes race to 1/8th mile:
1. The real racing is at the finish, and most spectators could then see that close finish 2. speeds up the races, nullifying the time killing across the line burnouts, and the seconds on the stop, adding to race day length (so maybe LODRS can be done by 6-7 PM!!, or sooner so we can get home in time to go to work on Monday!!) 3. safer 4. on the stop less time, maybe unnoticeable Sorry for crashing in to Super class territory, but it is on the class site My 2 cents, and with the economy....waaaay less |

At Piedmont Dragway we run 3 heads up classes on various Thursday nights. 1/8 mile we run a 7.49, 6.49 8.99 with no electronics allowed. You cant even run a trans brake in 7.49, its all side by side and Ill get 300 more people on my 6.49 night. WHY>>>THEY RACE SIDE BY SIDE PRO TREE NO DEEP STAGING. Its easy to understand and we get a large mix. If they cut the timers out of the .90 classes and local tracks ran that program people would come out to watch. I know a guy who runs 4.80's in the 1/8 with his Super Gas car. Another runs 5.40 in the 1/8 with his Super Street car. A 10.90 car that will run 8.50. Yea that adds up.
As for delay boxes I say no, but if you make it legal Ill run one obviously. |

Certainly is amusing to see you fellas morph a question about delay boxes in SS to a rant about the .90 classes. There is a place for all of us, and most of us like our choice of racing. You class guys build great cars that are fun to watch. And RULES are everything to your type of racing. Our rules are simple. Hit the PRO tree, run the number. If we want more rules, we'll go class racing!! So we can build a killer combo........and shoe polish a number on the window!!!
I most humbly request that you all not concern yourselves with our rules, and we'll do likewise!! RIP |

I told you my honest opinion as a track owner. Grass roots racing is coming back and people like it. Fans want to see side by side and if you dont know a track cant make it on racers alone. You must have spectators and they dont watch the .90 classes like they will a slower side by side class. Herb Jr piedmont dragway |

I really agree with herb that fans could see the sportsman racing better if it was 1/8th mile where all the action is right in front of them.

Herb,
Wouldnt it be easier to move a section or two of stands at the finish on both side's of the track then try to change the history of 1320 foot racing not to mention the thousands of dollars it would cost S/SS guys to change their cars to run as fast as possible to the 1/8? |
