Wow ,only 44 cars out of I think 114 stayed for first round! ...And for their dedication and perseverance, NHRA is rewarding them by letting them stay another day and try to finish on Wednesday!!!...I know NHRA has no control over the weather, but the races at curfew restricted tracks always seem to stick it to the Sportsman racers the worst. .....How many racers can afford to stay at a track for a week to complete a race in this economy?...Especially when the loss of contingencies has dramaticaly lowered the value of the purse!!........heres hoping that we see some dry weather for the rest of the year. .....Tom

Found this crap on NHRA this morning...
Alcohol champs crowned, other classes moved to Wednesday finish Tuesday, February 10, 2009 Jim Whiteley (Top Alcohol Dragster) and Tony Bartone (Top Alcohol Funny Car) were the only Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series champions crowned at Auto Club Dragway at Pomona on Tuesday. The remaining categories will finish up racing on Wednesday, beginning at 11 a.m. Three racers — Doug Lambeck, Dan Fletcher, and Justin Lamb — remain in Comp. Seven drivers are still in contention in Super Stock, three competitors are left standing in Stock, and 12 are still fighting for the Wally in Super Gas. There will be no NHRA.com audiocast on Wednesday. Way to Hose the sportsman racers.... The only way to win Pomona is to be able to out sit your opponents. NHRA had to make sure they got thier "SHOW" done as quick as possible, so the over paid pro's can get back to doing nothing between races, while the sportsman drivers that work for a living had to take a week and a half vacation time just to get one time run, and finally race a week later. Definatly sux to be a sportsman racer.

Yeah and the sad part is I can see if they were in a rush to get the race done so they can air the finals on ESPN that night but, NO it's not going to be on until Sat Night for a whole 1/2 an hour!! So it's not like they were in a rush to get the Pro's done so they can get the tape back to the trailer to edit it for that night's broadcast. S/G with the MOST Cars didn't run 1st round until 4pm...I mean I would have loaded up and rolled already if I knew thats what time we were going to run. I understand oil downs and getting bumped for a reason but Stk was in Round 4, T/F & F/C was done, P/S, TAD, TAFC were in the finals or semi's and S/G was still at the trailers (S/S and Comp got the shaft 2 with only 1 round complete but Comp had like 12 bye runs 1st round). I know it's preaching to a choir but if the writing not on the wall after this then I guess we all need to get beat upside our head to wake up and smell the roses.
The thing I don't understand is with that little amount of cars left (About 30 total) why couldn't they just run it at a future event. All the cars that look like they are left are all D7 or D6 cars and I don't see a problem with why they couldn't run it at Arizona or one of the D-7 races coming up shortly instead of making the racers stay another day (A total of 8 to 9 days at an event with parking) and make them use up even more vacation time. Maybe NHRA will give the drivers a doctor's note for not coming to work today....hahahahahahaha |

I have a hard time understanding why there is no broadcast of the Sportsman running on Wednesday.
Putting it across the internet can not be expensive at all and you know there is an announcer there to call it all. Just another way to piss the Sportsman off I guess. That seems to be what NHRA wants to do to the Sportsman. No Racer Relief Program for us. NHRA = No Happy Racers Allowed is exactly what I am today. I am sitting at the computer and can not even listen to my friends racing today. I must be getting old and cranky. My 2 Cents |
