I wonder if the new owners will allow their tracks to be used for US Class Nat's or Sportsman's Nats, etc

What tracks are affected?

I think that was one of Alex D's problems, was securing a NHRA venue for his US Class Nationals, therefore, Byron

I don't think some people realize how much work there is involved with putting together and promoting Sportsman races, even on the small scale like what we do out here.

That being said , I'd be glad to help out any way I can.

Interested parties ? ........I'm easy to get ahold of.

Randall, For example, Speedworld in Phoenix is now owned by an NHRA Sportsman racer. Places like this are where we need to go.
Belle Rose, Rock Falls , etc

Adger,

Wow, you were just shoot'n the breeze about it. To me, your post looked very deliberate. Any way send me some numbers if you get that far.

NHRA may have attempted to sell the Sportsman racers but we are a very risky investment. And besides the new potential buyers probably did not want us. I mean who would? We all need haircuts.

You folks have to remember this deal is a very long way from being a "done deal." They still have a bunch of hurdles to clear. And I'll bet the odds are not in their favor of making this work. Just my humble opinion.

S/SS/Comp is the best untapped resource in the racing industry. NHRA has never tried to sell it.

There are only millions of baby boomers that grew up with these cars. They may not like the bracket racing part, but when has NHRA showed SS or S like this?

It has never been promoted or sold, and it is time. If you dont try to sell it, it probably will never be sold. Lots of good things lost to obscurity that way.

Yes, just talking about it like most of the sportsmen racers. My post was deliberate. I just didn?t accidentally post. :~) As for needing hair cuts, only trims. Most of us are old enough to have lost the top hair.
Even if it doesn?t work & there is some hurdle that can?t be cleared at least we have the words of Wally admitting the sportsmen need & deserve some attention from NHRA.
Oops! Did I read too much between the lines of the release from him?

When you talk about sportsman racing, you're talking about cars of the past mostly makes from the 60,s & 70's. However, look at what the new generation of kids drive and the crowd draw as well as the sponsor support of the Sport Compact Series verses any of the SportsNationals.

Warren, It is what is promoted. NHRA has let S and SS get less of a show by neglect and not promoting it. Sport Compact was a new kid on the block and an all out attempt. Besides the young kids and girls from what I hear. Try a cruise in and see the old cars AND the young kids taking in the Muscle cars.
If NHRA will allow Mustang and new Camaro and Challenger with competitive motors to run HEADS up not bracket the fun and appeal to younger people will be there too. The bumble bee sounds have died in the Dayton ohio. Real cars are returning.

Hey Adger,

I'm never going to talk Kevin out of quitting racing if you keep giving him hope. I hope you and the Mrs are doing well. Tell Bob hello for us.

Take care,
Sherrie

Mark Y.....Bill only holds the lease and does not own as far as he has related to me. Out of the two tracks in the area in my opinion I would rather race at Speedworld. Bill is a great guy and correct he is a sportsman racer.
