congratulations, I have the same question as Chris. Was this to decide the winner of the last national open or the world finals tournament of champions?

This coin flip win was to decide the contingency/win for the Sportsnationals event only that was to be finished Friday of the weekend. Summit All Stars and Tournament of Champions is still pending.
I am sick it had to be decided this way. Pete, Sam & Alex had originally decided in the tower Monday afternoon after the race was called to race for it - possibly at Martin next year. Other classes were flipping in the tower for their wins, but Alex & Pete wanted to do it "right". However, phone calls this week from IHRA forced a decision to be made now and a coin flip took place in Norwalk, Ohio yesterday. It was administrated by IHRA officials, with a phone call to us late afternoon with the results. The reason for the rush, IHRA could not guarantee that all the manufacturers/sponsors that were posting this year would honor payments in 2010 for a 2009 event. They needed to put 2009 season to bed, and if we wanted to get paid anything, it had to be decided by end of business yesterday. Both Pete and Alex were driving very well that weekend - it was gonna be a FUN final!! Too bad Mother Nature had other plans. (I still think we should "grudge match race" during qualifying if we are at an event together if everyone is game!) ![]() |

Congrats to both teams. I think at least a foot race or dart throwing competition should have been in order.....this is racing, not Vegas. I guess I'm against that crap, because my luck aint that good !!
