They didn't ask us, although we had a lot of techs in, over and under the car so maybe it was self evident...

As for wishing for better parts, when you get rod bolts that stretch, pistons that aren't even all the same size and rockers and shafts that wear so fast you can see the wear after one or two runs, you can wish for better parts. Especially if the choice is better parts or a diaper to catch all of the stuff that comes loose when any of the above mentioned items fail, and we have already lost enough engines to know that having the right parts in place is better than using the spec'ed parts.

Mike Crutchfield and I had Danny come over when we had one of our SS/AH cars on the lift. I think he understands the problem better than some of the others at NHRA. Mike 'volunteered' to come up with the five proposals to send to NHRA as a group. I think everyone voted for No 1, with some of the other suggestions to follow. Pat Joffrion uses a bonus at No Problem if you win a bracket race and have a diaper. Easy fix. My final email today to the SRAC was No 1, and I don't ever see how the older cars can have a diaper and steering at the same time. It's just a really bad deal. Cost is a factor that NHRA is aware of. On the steering, we have been asking for Rack & Pinion for at least 15 years. Common sense says having the steering running through the middle of the headers, through the oil pan, around the oil lines, and trying not to have the pipes hit the pan or the frame is a problem. Some of the Fords got such wild headers, you can't see the pan. Hopefully the common sense will prevail.

Great news! I'm keeping my fingers crossed though.
Jeff, in my experiences with Don maybe it's time for you to consider a "diaper".
