I've been in contact with Tony Brown the track Mgr. every week and have made a couple of trips there in the last 6 weeks. They have finished a new entry road off the main hwy. - not so much elevation change over the rail road tracks and wider entry. They were working on more roads off the main return road into some of areas that have not been previously used. Its a new track and they working very hard to get ready for this race, so let all give them the benefit of a doubt and support these guys who work so very hard to give us all a place to race.
Thanks, Satch Gragg - IHRA Div. 9

This is the thread post from Union County Dragway message board.

( I went to the track this morning and the storm last night did some damage. Tony and crew are working on it but if you plan to go to T&T tonight or race tomorrow you may want to call first and see if they will be racing due to lightning damage to systems. Tony and Curtis had done a bunch of work in the pits and it really looked great, much improved, but the rain has washed some of the new expanded pit area away before it was even used. Really feel bad for Curtis and Tony and crew because they really had been working hard and it shows. )

I hope you guys can see that they are working very hard! Satch

I just want to clarify, the new entry road into the track is not the existing entry road. The new entry road is about an 1/4 mile north, when using the new entry you will turn in across the rail road tracks, then turn south and travel along beside the tracks to the original entry road.

Update - I have been down to Union again today 8/14/10 to go over some paper work and see for myself the progress on work being done to the pit area. They have the new entrance road completed and have most of the new pit road finished to open up new pit areas that haven't been previously used. The computer that was hit by lighting is back and working great, there is still an issue with the score boards but they are still working on them, Tony assures me they will be ready come Friday.

Stacie and I rode to union on Sunday to see the new entrance road, and as for the railroad crossing it is a huge improvement from the old one and there are also crossing gate arms at the new crossing. It appears that a great deal of time and money has been spent to make this race happen. We have only raced there once up to now and the track was great at that time. Regardless of the outcome I would like to say Thank You to Curtis Teems and all that have been involved in getting a new track going in economy that we have and had for the past few years.

Kevin,

Satch covered that in his post sayin the timing system was working fine just no scoreboard yet. I really hope this race doesn't loose money after all they have done for us to be able to race there. I can't wait myself. Cya sometime Friday night!

I am looking forward to seeing the new track and taking some great pictures. Can anyone please confirm that they are starting qualifying at 1:00 on Saturday? Sounds pretty late, based on what they ran at Jackson early this year.
Thanks, see ya'll there.
