Default Re: 2003 Duramax fuel gauge problem

I had similar problem on my 5.7 gas 2500, 8600 gvw Express van, only my gauge readings were erratic and sporadically bouncing everywhere, no matter how much fuel in tank....turned out moisture had gotten to PCM due to a plastic shrouding re-call above the PCM. PCM had to be replaced. I had never gotten the recall and had to pay, ouch. WJ

Mike there is a special policy coverage for 7 years or 70,000 miles on the clusters. We've had several over the mileage that GM went ahead and covered any way. There seems to be quite a few issues with the stepper motors in the clusters. Joe

I guess I will check out the dealer. My truck has 163,000 miles on it though. I have gotten used to driving by the tach or the GPS for speed. What a great truck. Drives like a dream. Lots of power. The speedo has been the only mechanical issue so far.

If you search the NHTSA database, you will find lots of complaints on the subject. There are also some websites dedicated to complaints and there may be a class action lawsuit in works too.

Interesting that GM won a lawsuit against Delphi regarding this issue, however, they will not do a full recall.
