I knew they were fast, but not that fast. The Mustang James mentioned was the #1 qualifier at the Mid-Mich. NHRA Div. 3 LODRS, where he ran 10.73. It's obvious he was sandbagging by a 1/2 second at that race. Nothing personal against the driver/owner, but NHRA is letting a flawed system run rampant if they stand by and give this particular car a 10 HP hit. Now, he'll run 10.30's instead of 10.20's in E/SA.

173 cars in Stock at Indy

45 did not qualify = 42 "old" cars and 3 "new" cars

150 "old" cars in Stock = 87%

72% of "old" cars qualified

28% of "old" cars did not qualify

23 "new" cars in Stock = 13%

87% of "new" cars qualified

13% of "new" cars did not qualify (broke?)

69% of top 16 qualifiers were "new" cars

etc............

Maybe that is why GM did not enter the 2010 bogus arena. Think maybe GM knew something?

Thanks Jok! Well done.

Considering that they built Camaros for 35 years and the DP and Mustang for two there should be alot more of them. What percetage of the Camaros were available to every one right off the showroom as production cars100% how many of the Dp or mustangs where off the showroom floor as production cars? Maybe 1 I believe that Mr Dual (sorry if I got the name wrong) built his from a real car but runs the bugus crate motor in it. Not that that is his fault they wont let the real cars in.

Sounds like he is biased.

A couple of facts Nobody has touched on yet.
There were 3 Drag Pack cars that didn't qualify.
Every stocker and superstocker there went under the index in qualifying all 338 of them.

So he should have used the word "qualified" when referring to the new cars being at least 8 tenths under.

You said he is off on a few counts. What are the others?

What is your point here. Not all cars of the same type and class run the same anyway. The point is, once these guys really works on their cars like the rest of us have. They will really be fast. If we all had factory race cars, I guess it would be ok.
I agree with the writer. I'm sure with all your racing, none of the quick et's came easy. As far as the make, there has always been a lot of GM cars in the category.
Of course there is always some surprises in stock and superstock. Charles Blossom always seem to find one.
