well if ya figure on 400 PAIRS of cars at about 1 minute per pair figuring in the burnout/staging/the run/lshut down and leaving the track thats about 7 hours of flatout racing not counting any breakage/cleanups or -changing the timing etc between the classes plus about 10-15 minutes every so often to clean/dress/scrape the track it makes for a long day---How fast or how much time do ya thinkl it SHOULD take to run off 800 cars???? I was there and other than the way they kept changing the schedule there wasn't a whole lot of wasted time. They just couldn't keep to one schedule.
You have to give kudos to the track crew, they worked their asses off from 8:00 till 9 or 10 every night. Harold Owens, the lane master, was on his feet damn near that whole time too, and he's a little bit older than me. I don't know how he does it.
It was a huge event and a lot of championships were decided last wekend.

Changing the schedule seems to me to be an NHRA thing cuz they literally take over the whole show at a points meet--the Track owners,/mgmt/staff do as they are told by NHRA people----Got a gripe direct it to NHRA not the track personell-----going back to what I said if ya run 400+ pairs of cars how long is an acceptable amount of time to accomplish that feat---Still say it takes 1 minute per pair course the alcohol drippers take about 1/2-1 hour to run a few pairs with all th pre planned oil cleanups figured in--Comp

Did the top fuel Harleys put more butts in the bleachers than last year?

Those were a pretty cool show I have to say, and yes fans showed up for that, and then left right after.

Ain't nobody that can say anything bad about Harold. I'll fight them if they do. Harold is tops in my book.

I think they were able to get more than 1 pair per minute. Remember burnouts overlap cars in the shut down/turn out area. I used to work at Bandimere in the tower and we were able to get about 3 pair per minute. Classes that burn out across the starting line seemed to take twice as long ~ 1.5 pair per minute.

In any case I thought the track did a great job getting everything done. They seemed to really keep up on the track prep throughout the day and evening no matter what classes were running. This is definitely an improvement over prior years.

As far as the schedule goes, I wish they would group category's TT runs and elimination runs together more. I sat around for 8 hours between 1st round and 2nd round.

And yes Harold is the best!

Because the Vegas track has probably the longest shutdown road around, I would suggest that they open one of the earlier turn-offs to get cars exited of the track faster, thus getting pairs of cars down the track at a faster clip.

Wouldn't that help or should it just be a 4 day Divisional??????? It sure was painful the way the schedule was.

The race no doubt needs to be a 4 day race.
