It really is an insignificant change as, Yes, there are already springs that do the job. It may actually save some people money, as they are not limited to the configuration rules we had before. It took me a few sets to get a spring for my 427 that fit the "single spring with damper" required for my combo. With this rule, I would've had an easier and less expensive time getting the spring I needed.

very well put Dave. This is one rule change that may have a positive effect on the racer's budget.

Gump,

You are a very smart man or your method of prediction is near unbeatable. That is where the rocker arm situation is headed. Roller tip or full roller is probably coming down the road.

There are 1.300" dual springs available that are 850 lbs.+ over the nose, some of you guys are kidding yourselves if you don't think this rule will get taken advantage of.

Steel "hydraulic" roller lifter bodies are available. Any pushrod OK, and the heads can be ground for them. Now any spring that fits the pockets. The rocker will be the weak link.

There's a limit to how much spring pressure you can use, and after that, you're just wasting power and creating problems. If you think the valve spring rule will suddenly add 1000RPM of usable power band you will be sorely disappointed in most cases.

You can only make a cam lobe so aggressive before you run off the edge of the lifter. There's already plenty of spring available to deal with that limiting factor.

It seems a lot of people thing "if a little is good, more is better, and too much is just right". That is not necessarily true with valve spring pressure.

It is not just valve spring pressure that is breaking rockers.

Lobe design causes a lot of harmonic problems. Incorrect heat treatment on some of the out of country made parts cause a bigger problem. Buy known quality parts and have them frozen and coated helps. Check your rocker arm geometry.

Good thing my lifters don't have edges. Valve springs and 6.14 gears on order.
