I believe -.500. I'm pretty sure LB3A is "left before 3rd amber". I could be wrong.

Yes it is Left Before 3rd Amber, I wanted to know if there was a numerical amount that was the decision maker on whether it came up -479 or LB3A.

This same exact thing happened to me yestareday in my CF/S P.T Cruiser at a local track for our weekly points race... I was chasing a car that went deep. We both pre-staged then I let him put it in deep and I staged(shallow) he was dialed a 16.70 I was dialed a 14.50 he left and as I was waiting my tree started to come down and on the second amber my red came on I hadnt moved a bit......I was .466 red and my run was half a second off the whole run .... very strange I went to the tower and they said the new Starter flipped the switch twice because he didnt realize the other guy went deep(he didnt know if that was the problem or not) but thats all the track official could come up with, they let us re-run it and no problems for the rest of the day.....????
and BTW I was one of the 5 guys who had a .499 green back when Brockmeyers system first came out... why me? LOL Jaimie |

I had the exact same thing happen to me many many years ago, went red on the 2nd yellow and both pre stage and stage light went out at the same time without the car even moving. Got the run on video but to no avail to the track manager at the time, he wouldn't even look at it.

I know I can not change the results of the race and that it is already done and over with, I just really wish that NHRA had at least gone out and looked things over. They really just acted like we were crazy and made up excuses as to how it happened like "you could have turned your wheel" and said that the video wasnt clear enough and that there was no proof that there was a computer malfunction. I get that no one likes a re run, but I would have at least felt that there was some sense of justice had they checked the beams or at least acted like they were concerned. It completely altered the results of the race, and it clearly happened again in the final round. I hope that in the future NHRA might take a step back and actually listen to the racer, maybe take a look at the beams and see if they could re create the problem, anything except make excuses as to how it is the racers fault.

When this happens you need to shut the car off and lock the doors until they agree to rerun the race, That's the only way you will get justice. If you make the run you have bought the race, right or wrong.

This might sound out of this world for some of you with todays computerized electronics but maybe they have a "Red Light Button" (yes it was for real....I knew the guy who ran it in the tower) like the one they had at Aquasco Speedway in Md. back in the 60's ? If you were not one of the "Boys" and you ran a track hero or got to the final you somehow red lighted. It was done back in the day before electronics became more sophisticated so whos to say it isnt being done today with current technology. How can a racer even know or fight it ?

nobody has mentioned that if you watch the video closely, 11 seconds in on the video, the car moves slightly while it is already staged, this may be on the trans brake or the 2 step, it is possible this rocking of the car has caused the car to back out of the stage light. The tree and electronics over the years has been modified to cut down on staging flickers, the tree stage locks on and is not supposed to red light the car, this is a problem with shallow staging.
