Peter, I will have to ask you for a source on that one: The components in this mixture have been found to be non-carcinogenic by NTP, IARC and OSHA.

My dad used to use it on his aching knees.
He was an ex pro footbal player having played in the late 30s, when safety wasn't just secondary, it never even came into the equation. and as a defensive end, he had a few folks cut him at the kness. Crackback blocks were common. So as got into his sixties, his kness acted up. And he swore that WD-40 made a difference for him. He would rub it into his knees a couple times a week. As I recall it was DMSO , an industrial solvent , which was found to be an effective joint pain reliever about 20 years ago . Possibly WD40 contains DMSO as a solvent .

I worked w a guy who swears by dmso. I tried it, crazy burning feeling on my shoulder. supposedly to be used after an injury as opposed to an old one. dunno. But its off my bucket list now, been there done that, lol.
