The NAPA gold is not a racing filter but the R filter has a bigger micron rating which lets bigger particles through which is not a good thing on a performance engine, Ya it flows 35 gallons a minute what oil pump moves 35 gallons a minute ??
I have always used the 1061 NAPA gold on a my circle track engines with the bypaas plugged and zero issues. |

You are right about the Napa Golds crossing with the Wix filters if it wasn't for the "R." You could drop the 5 off the 51069 and get the Napa one with the 1069. I think it is how it works.

We buy all our filters from Filter1....Much cheaper than any other supllier we have used over the years and we buy thousands of dollars worth of filters. Big filters for big engines are not cheap! Especially air filters...
We get them UPS'ed every day..... Napa prices are way higher... and yes Napa filters are made by wix.... Same part number minus the prefix... Wix adds a prefix 5 is oil 4 is air 3 is fuel So drop the prefix and thats the Napa number.... R suffix is racing filters We buy the 51061R's......full length filter I think the 51069R is the shorter filter..... 51060 and 51061 are similar....One has anti drain back valve that is easy to see right thru the holes at the top.......for filters mounted horizonatlly....51060 has it if I recall right...Not needed for a std filter mounted on the block vertically....

Anyone know the part # for the Wix "race" oil filter for a small block Olds (350)? I have run the Wix # 51258 and the NAPA GOLD # 1258. I would like to check out the Wix Race filter. I do need the short filter (4.338")for header clearance..... TIA

Rally Bob-- WIX does not have a corresponding racing filter for your Olds!!!! You could try a filter for a Chevy but WIX does not recommend it!!! maybe you could put a remote filter in solve all your problems of space and filter availability---just a suggestion FED387
