Can someone just give Rick Campbell some sort of badge so he feels part of it. Move him up in life instead of the mall cop status . Who cares dude about a hood. RELAX rick.

If NHRA is going to focus on hoods, there is a lot to look at out there.
Maybe they should study the HP ratings this much, LOL.

FYI, a cowl hood came standard on all 1969 302/Z28, Convertable Pace Cars, and 427/ZL1 Camaro's; however it was an option on the build sheet for every model in '69. You would have had to special order it but it was "available". The question then becomes does NHRA look at standard or optional trim on all cars for the HP guidelines, personally I dont care; however make your decision NHRA and stick with it.

I received my first ever letter from the tech dept after the World Finals regarding this matter. The quintesential SS/JA car is a '69 Camaro with a 255/350, and they've ALWAYS had cowl hoods. That, however, does not make it right.
I told Bruce I was sure one could "have" a cowl hood with that combo, but I'd research it. Turns out, not so much. The cowl hood (ZL2 option) was AVAILABLE on the Z/28 and SS models, and came included on the COPO and Pace Car. Well, you could not get the LM1 255/350 in any of those, so therefore, you could not pair a 255 with a cowl hood. Period. 300/350, yes, in both an SS and a Pace Car. So, right is right, wrong is wrong, and the facts are the facts... |

I don't have a dog in this fight, but it seems to me it should be like common law marriage. If you've lived together for more than seven years the law could consider you married. Why would anyone want to try and all of a sudden make these hoods illegal after years of them being legal. With all the BS in stock and super stock this sure seems like a strange issue to want to enforce.

I would guess that the cowl hood to be somewhat faster than the flat hood. Probably more so in SS where carb to hood clearance my be a problem with the flat hood. Has anyone A/B'd both hoods and want to share?
