However, I think reality would set in when you tried to drop the engine in with stock fender splash pans and realize that the only way they made it work back in the day was with MacPherson struts, and even then, it was tight.

That would be cool, but imagine the vision of Carey Bales, in a stick 79 Pacer with the street 426 in GT, or the new 426 hemi, decorated with a scantily clad Tia Carrea from back in the Waynes world day.....wheelie bars optional, with what else but a R on the window....
