On my '70 Nova I ran the 30x9" Hoosier radials on 10" rims with 5.5" Backspacing. I had to roll up the inner fender lip, also do some beating on a few spots on the inner wheelhouse and carefully center the rear end housing but they did fit with some effort. Not sure if the 74 is exactly the same rear fender contours, but think it could be done....The tires I ran were radials, but if you run bias you'll have to take that into consideration at the front of the tire due to the extra growth as others have mentioned...

Awesome!!!! Yes the wheelhouse on the '74 is the same as the '70. So if you were able to do that and keep everything in the stock location. I should be able to do the same thing!!!
Thanks everyone for the replies, I will do some more measuring before I buy the wheels. I do hope I can make them fit!!!! Will keep everyone updated. Thanks again. Sincerely, Chris Daniel |

Yes they are 8"... I know the cool thing to do is put 10" wheels on but I already had these.. May try it down road if I ever get to "stockerize" my car
I had the tall radials on my car a couple years ago and they fit great, lots more room than the bias tire width wise.. I wont switch wheels unless I just am forced too.. I have a 355 on alcohol my car 60' 1.44 now.. Maybe if I ever made a stocker and put like big low gear metric in it or something I might be forced too.. but for now it does fine.. Shame these year cars cant be competitive, I have always wanted to race stock with my 74 but I have been told by several people no matter how much coin you throw at it this combo cant compete with the newer camaros and other cars.. 15x8 or 9 with a 5.5" Backspace fits but you have to roll the lip on the fender. It is tight thou.

As Mike T. said the M/T 29.5 X 9.0 are a good choice 3056ST.
