Ron if NHRA will let me, I will give 2 of my grade points.
You guys need to quit whining about not getting in to Vegas or Pomona. You sound like a bunch of entitled whiny millennial's The quota has been 75 for 10 months now. life is not far and we all can't get a trophy. Buck up get 5 grading points for 2017 and learn from your mistakes. There's a reason C Bob and others have 6-8 grade points per year and its because we like to race and don't like getting locked out of a events we want to run. Sorry guys Bernie Sanders lost a few months ago. Make American Great Again Less Whining, more foot to *****

When I first started doing this, they took a 64 car field that was qualified. 75 or 80 stockers sometimes showed up to Winternationals.I'm afraid that could turn Pomona into a little Indy if we went back to something like that.

Question ,if you go to a div race pay your $$ fill out a tech card go threw tech, sign your tech card along with the tech guy then brake on you way to staging. does this mean you would get a grade point, or do you have to stage, weight and fuel check, this would be in stock super stock. Now if you where in the super class do you have race first round to get you grade point. My point is that back in the day at the nat opens you could pay fill out a tech card using somebody else car and be on your merry way with a grade point in hand. Tom

Lot of precedent for folks renting a minivan that's in the guide, passing tech to get their grade point. Avis rent-a-racer....cheaper getting to the track too.

As an outsider, but a life long fan of Stock and SS, I would think a 64 field would make sense. 65 cars and there will be a lot of bye runs, less some bye runs.
I guess that John Force needs space for all his rigs. I think we counted eight rigs for his teams at Ennis.

My guess, if they do in fact limit the field to 55, is to keep the race to 6 rounds. A 55 quota allows up to 9 past champions, gold card holders etc. to enter and keep the race to 6 rounds.
Personally, I'm not against the quotas if it helps get races completed in a timely manner! It's not ideal to run first round and then sit around all day wondering when/if second round is going to happen. I was in Vegas last year. After first round, we sat all day waiting for second round and then eventually it got moved to the next day. Then, we wait all day Saturday to run third and fourth rounds at the end in a rush because everyone is ready to go home! If limited quotas help run the race in a timely, more efficient manner then it could be a win for the racer and track personnel who seem to work 12-16 hour days at most races! |
