Cool Re: NHRA D2 open series

I would gladly support the series if pure stocks were allowed but maybe I am not a racer because of my classification , SURE

I went to Nashville and raced with Chet Fincke’s NHRA GTG car. I recalll 24 cars and about half were IHRA only cars. It also appeared that the Stock Superstock combo was one of the largest fields there so the event was light all over.

Now, I am not an 1/8th mile fan, but it isn’t the end of the world to go. I really wanted the grade point so I went.

I agree, anyone with an IHRA only combo should go. I didnt know that PUre Stockers we’re not in the mix. If I had an IHRA car, I sure would do anything to support the only race space around d2 land. I would also consider trying to step up a pure stocker to run a stock index to at least go play. Or perhaps get the massive number of pure stock racers to band together and commit to showing up if they would let you in. They need cars period. I bet you could work it out if it was more than a few cars.

By the way, there was an IHRA SS Stick Car there in Nashville that won. Really nice car too. He was glad to have a place to race.

I think that all of us as racers need to be not so quick to bash any DD or track owner efforts to accommodate IHRA racers. Too many go straight to the negative. It isn’t helpful to the sport.

I agree with Jim, what Rich and the D2 crew put together here is good for racers in general. Unfortunately for me its hard enough to make the regular division and national races so I don't think I will make any of these races. I would like to try to make Piedmont and ofcourse do a "Live" report but not sure I will even make that as work is extremely busy right now. Hope some more folks will get out and support these races and I think they will when the races get closer to D2 country.

I hope this weeks turn out is good. I would have liked to have gone this weekend but had other plans made. I plan to go the Jackson SC. race later in the year. I think Rich has done a great job starting this series. Hopefully it will continue for a few years and grow.
