Live from Maple Grove Raceway - NHRA Auto Plus Nationals

Well here we are @ part two of the Auto Plus Nationals - I'm in line to get in tomorrow morning - I figured there would be much more of a crowd tonight but I must say sparce isn't even close - the line to get in is almost non-existant .


One thing I didn't think about is that its October - yep , its a chilly 58 degrees tonight and is expected to drop into the forties - and its furnace time for me as I hate the cold .But I just can't force myself into moving to somewhere warm .

Thursday will be a nothing day for most of us - parking and then tech - I'll be done before 10am .....then what ? Maybe I can get a job here at the track ........cleaning toilets or forecasting the weather or ........well you get it ! ! ! Every time I've taken a shower in the last week I keep thinking the tire tracks will wash off but ........I've been under the bus so much lately its like a second home .

Did I mention my TV service is on the fritz again - thank God for the Internet - you know that Al Gore guy was right - it might catch on .Later .............

Got one word for you Jack - snowbird! When it get cold come on down to Florida and go home when it gets warm.

But DRC notes that best appearing and best engineered won't be awarded until this upcoming weekend.

Not much going on this afternoon - most did tech - then maybe a little cleaning up of equipment and pretty soon it was time to head over to the Park Place Pub and some great lunch .

Entries coming in are slow in showing up - this could turn out to be a really slim deal .

And for those of you who forgot what motorhome rutts look like ..............And these were taken in the flat areas - the back fields are still very soft and would produce foot deep tracks .

Good morning - And welcome to day one of Part Two of the Auto Plus Nationals here at Maple Grove Raceway .In just under two hours we'll finally get our chance at going down the quarter mile and let me tell you folks - it will be fast - blinding fast as the weather here is just what the doctor ordered - just under fifty degrees -.27 vapor pressure - 29.79 barometer- there is some humidity but with the Sun shining it will burn off fast - and here it is ---- ta-da---- we're at ............... - 99' at this moment - it will climb some till we get on the track but it'll be fast just the same ..

I hear trucks rolling in this morning - hopefully a bunch because as of 5pm yesterday there were only 107 entries on the grounds - seems like racers waited to leave late to arrive here this morning and will trickle in all day .We should get our two shots in today and possibly a third .At any moment I expect to hear the Division One Jet firing up to dry the dew off the track - as you can see on the grass pics below there is plenty of it .

Stock and SS made their first pass already.

Temps when SS ran were 58 degrees, 29.94 baro and 60% hum.

Rich South went 9.62 in GT/FA (i think). -1.17
Angelo Ditocco went 9.67 in SS/IA. -1.02

Stock and SuperStock got their first hit - Stock was out first with 44 entries and Ron Infantino led the pack with a fine -1.10 run in his sharp looking '69 Camaro Z-10 . In S/S fifty came out this morning with Rich South at the top with a fine -1.18 run .

I'm told that along with S/S class eliminations we will get three qualifing passes today .

SuperComp and Super Gas on the track now with Stock to follow .
