Wasn't "Smyly Buick" out of the Boston area? Used to see Smyly Buick cars run at Connecticut Dragway back in the '60's, unless there's another....many fast "Stage I and 2" Buicks came out of that place in the late 60's--early 70's

Yes, Smyly Buick was in Malden MA I beleive. The driver was __ Miller.
The Smyly Gran Sport was raced at Epping and Colchester (CT). My company is building the Gran Sport drag cars for each year from '65 to '70. The 1965 Reynolds Buick Gran Sport (California) that Lenny Kennedy and Jim Bell (Kennebell Speed) raced out there in the '60s. 2015 marks 50 years of the Buick Gran Sport, we have a national campaign underway, "The Buick Gran Sport and The Muscle Car Era". and will display these cars during our national tour starting this fall. |

If Buicks weren't so expensive to buy there would have been tons more (muscle cars) made back then. Aftermarket parts aren't so plentiful either for the same reason.
However, Buick engines, especially the 401, was a history maker in the'60s. see: History of the Buick Nailhead, Car Craft Magazine |
