Bobby Lundholm's got it right, and in additon to the LS1's he's done, Tim has also built class legal LS2's, different parts and requirements than the LS1 .

Bobby, I don't think that Bogan made it through teardown at Indy. I think Wilkes won A/SA.

Thumbs up Re: Engine Builder????

I still think Carrol Shelby, at least on paper. All those other engine builders cannot dictate what was original.

Thats a weak shot Ron, I'm sure Mopar NEVER help there racers right??

Bub Whitaker gets my vote, no body better to deal with. His power won the World Championship, and alot of heads up races along the way..

I heard that the manifold he had was the reason he didn't pass.

imagine that Larry Hill's wrong again. Monty's stocker (which the intake was wrong, and was the one that was on the car when Bo purchased it from Wilkes...) got tossed at the scales in A/SA. But Monty won SS class and passed tear down with out ANY issues. Wilkes got over on Bo, when Bo purchased the car. And since Wilkes couldnt run with Monty at INDY, he said something about the intake. Sorry Bo, i defend Hawk when there bassing him also.

I would go with Tim Sloan also. His reputation speaks for its self.

I agree with Peter & Jeremy...my vote also goes to Woodro Josey. My reason is simple, he's the first person to take one of those engine/car combos to a national event and become No. 1 qualifier! Furthermore, it's his finding of the tuning base by which the Accel Calmaps were once famous for, that created the flood of others to join the fuel injected stocker era...over and beyond that are the other companies that quickly developed their own versions of Accel's Calmap. By the way, I'm still using one of them, and although there was no baseline established for my 2800 V6, I'm sure that Woodro could bring it up to snuff just as easily as he did his own car. Ask the Emmons brothers too, because if my memory is right, one of them (at least), is racing a fuel injected stocker that was prepped by one Woodro Josey???

Todd,

Sorry about the shot on Carrol Shelby, I just could not resist as I have read all the complaining about his "paper" cars on the forums. Personally, I really do not care what people say is legal or not. If NHRA allows it I guess it is OK. As far as Mopar giving assistance to racers, it has only been for larger displacement motors, thay really could give a rats *** about a 273 2bbl. Though I recall a SS/AH car operated by a father and son that put a bowtie emblem on their dashboard of their Mopar in retaliation for their displeasure.

There are a number of quality engine builders out there, how one works with his customers would seem important to me. Ron Kendzior, who used to build stocker motors way back when did mine and I am extremely pleased. That was like in 1989. I have heard alot of good things about Woodro Josey and alot of the other engine builders referred to on this thread. So, go ahead and pick one, just be carefull that it is legal in NHRA's eyes, or at least Glendora's viewpoint.

My next engine builder is going to be from a galaxy far far away, I just love the principal of magnetic molecule transportation within itself.
