Back in 1981 I was at Indy, that is when my car was very competitive, it was just a couple of hundreds off the record. Well all the Mopar's with the small block combo made the field at Indy and NHRA did nothing about even to this day. I took my car apart and put it back to driving on the street because of that experience. Since that time that combo has been protected, they need more then just 7 HP, they should carry at least what my engine is, which is 19 HP from the factory rating. (1969 Z/28 Camaro) BTW, that is one reason for mufflers on the car now, it's not as much work to just roll the car off the trailer and take it for a cruise and enjoy it.
Also, the lifting at the 1000 feet is one good reason that manufactures don't want to sponcer class racing. Lifting doesn't show that their products help the performance of the vehicles that the product was targeted for even if the product does. Casey Miles 248H |

Hey...thats a great idea only lets not stop there. Go for the whole load and have a class for each and every combo in existence today. A/SB (A stock Buick), A/SCC (A stock chev camaro) and lets not forget the AAAAAAA/SFBM (A/S Ford Blown Mustangs).....LOL. Just kidding. Lets just get rid of the AHFS (it will NEVER work) and drop the indexes say about .5 or so and race like the old days. Put some HP on the cars that deserve it by a 2 or 3 man group ( I would do it for FREE but NHRA would never allow me near it...lol) who have no connection to anyones car or wont play favorites and add or subtract HP when needed (like NOW), run the sticks and autos together heads up and have at it. Its nothing more than a BS high dollar bracket race with some friggin' rules the way it is. Its getting to be almost as bad (no it already is) as the stop and go cars in the 90 classes. No wonder spectators and sponsors are not interested anymore.

The thing to do is lower AHFS to 1.00 under but do it August 15th next year. This crap will sort itself out real quick.

My combination got 3 HP before I even had the car finished! At least you got to race your car awhile before it got hit, and the cars that got you hit will, most likely, be torn down. That is what class racing is about,...going FAST! (just not too fast) LOL

So why did the Challanger get horse power and the Duster didnt? The NHRA rule shows the same wheel base and the same engine combo. Are the shipping weights different?

I believe a certain orange Cuda without its normal driver was responsible for some of the HP. E bodies and A bodies are different cars.
David is Jerry bringing his car also?

Well first and foremost I would like to apologize to anyone I offended; including, James Findell, Tim Mosbek, and Steve Wann and Mark. I realize now that I let my emotions overcome my usually good judgement. When i found out yesterday what happened i just got on here and started ranting on without thinking what i was really saying. We all do it because we are all human and make mistakes. It's the ability to stand up and admit when you were wrong, is what sets us apart. I started off saying I have been in this for 4 years which shows that I still have a lot of growing and learning to do if I plan on gaining others respect, and racing at the level I plan on achieving. I appreciate everyones feedback, which has made me realize my mistakes. I am usually a very humble person, and I am very grateful that I get to race and compete at the level that we are at today. I know most of you have never met me, but those of who have know my father and I are serious racers and most importantly have a lot of fun just being there. I have met all three racers I mentioned and each one of them are good smart racers, hell James Findell even beat me last year in Topeka, and don't get me started with Steve Wann, he's handed me a few too. Point is I didn't mean to put anyones reputation or integrity in jeopardy. The way we race our car is our decision, and we have to live with the consequences of that.
On a lighter note i would like to congratulate Paula Cotten and James Findell on their Indy class win. It takes a lot of work to get those! And for Mr.Sledge I have told you time and time again no one can B.S quite like you can. My dad runs a close 2nd though. ![]() |

That 1 run at Pomona was one run of many by that car in many locations. That West Coast Car went to INDY, Las Vegas, Pheonix, Boise, Pomona,Denver. For such a bogus piece we sure hid it well. It was torn down 5 different times and was bounced 1 time because they did not like the way the Head looked. It measured to spec if you remember and it should also be noted Rod, as you know they were comparing parts to another 340 car at the same time. How many times does that happen?
This same thing happened to us at pomona years before we were 1 of 2 cars torn down and they both were 340 dusters. We showed up and they would not take parts until the others were there as well. We were not bounced that time as our competitor was for camshaft i believe. Hartzler's car was the one that went 1.40 under and God Bless him for it as it gives all others a number to shoot for. |

This is my first post, i usually keep my mouth shut on these subjects. I know David was upset about what happened to him, but it happens to all of us. Heck it just happened to me! How would u feel if an egotistical idiot built your combo JUST TO GET IT HIT WITH HP!!!???? I dont think Findell, Mosbek, or Wann's intent was malicious. They were just doin what they had to. It's never fun to get hit with HP though. But as far as losing on purpose in class, ive shut my car off a few times to not get HP. Sometimes its better to think long-term not short-term. So i dont blame him for it. I race to win the event...not class. Its hard to win a heads up 3rd round or so if you are constantly gettin hit with HP. By the way D-Buck, you did deserve the HP. Now you'll only be #1 qualifier by a tenth!!
