Fred that was probably one of the stupidest post I've seen in a while: $10,000 to win in each class. LOL
My motor and tranny are hanging too. I'm looking at an inch of sleet on the ground this morning wishing I was there.

Legend, I guess you are a legend in someones mind, maybe your own? I've never heard of you. So you don't think people will show up if the purse is $10 K, but they will show up for a $1500 purse? I think the race in PB proves the point, people other than locals or people on vacation or don't care about the purse are the only ones there. I wouldn't leave my driveway to race for less than $3000.

Legend(Chip) is one good racer. On the other hand I haven't seen the name Fred Johnson on a qualifying sheet in the 11 years I've been racing.I've seen it plenty on Class Racer though.I guess you qualify as the #1 Internet racer. If you do race F J probably isn't
your real name. You're probably an also ran .2 under loser getting his jollies throwing mud in a ring you can't be competitive in.

ed i will agree with you on that. first of all if you cant get 3000 at the ihra national then you must be afraid to put a sticker on your car, THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH IHRA, fred come and race, instead of bad mouthing ihra and the pay...the pay is down in nhra and ihra BUT WE STILL RACE...

If there's an Internet class he'll be there.

I personally could give a %*&# what the payout is, I just love to race.....yeah it sure is nice to get some of what you invest back, but it wouldn't keep me in the driveway.

One good friend runnered up in TS today, another went to the semi's in QR and my sin-in-law also runnered up in no-box today at his first ever event...

Heard the stands were packed.....!!!!!!

Who all's coming to Immokalee next weekend....?????

The present economy has me parked

I don't think I'm bad mouthing IHRA at all. You guys are missing the subject of this thread, only "9 Super Stockers at a National Event". My point is, if IHRA or (you/whomever) want more cars at an IHRA National event, then raise the payout and the cars will showup. Pretty simple logic and it doesn't take much to figure it out. A race that pays maybe $2000 to win including contingency does not get the attention of someone who has to drive a 500/1000 miles to participate.

Ed,
Thanks

Fred is missing my point. I'm sure racers would show up. My point is IHRA or NHRA would never do it. With 7 classes it would take close to 400 cars just to pay the winners purse.

On a side note about contingency
I looked at the divisional list because I don't have enough grade points to run a NHRA race.

Currently for me
NHRA would pay 1600
IHRA would pay 1000
I have a lot of decals on my car too.

Not a lot of difference there.

chip actually you hit the nail on the head the payout is not that much different and if it is its a lot less rounds to win an ihra race usually compared to nhra...fred just sayin the pay is not that much different!!!!!!! PLUS usually ihra pts races has 2 races in 2 days cant go wrong !!!!

Camaro92,
I did'nt even mention about the doubles.
I will probably go to a couple N races this year if I can work them in. Why I don't know I guess because I never have.

I guess y'all can stay home and complain if you want to... All I know is that I got 5 Q runs, and only had to go 5 Rnds to win over $4,000. They're still working hard -- there were more decals paying today than what was listed when I left the house, and I have what is basically a free entry for a $10K/win World Championship tournament.

The facility was gorgeous and worked great all weekend.

$.02,
