It also seemed like the organization was just plain screwing the racers, raising the costs, lowering the return available, messing with extra charges, etc..

Around 2003, I was in the lanes at the Indy divisional, at 10PM, on a saturday night, waiting for one time run. It occured to me that I could have used the 500 dollars or so spent on the event, to board a southwest plane, get a room on the beach, and actually get 500 worth of fun for the money. So the car went up for sale, and that plan went into effect. Now I don't even give them a dime a year (except for going to some divisionals to watch my pals).

I have people asking me if I am getting the racing bug again. I usually say, "the pain doesn't equal the gain". Or "not enough to start the pointless spending again". Some people can't seem to find another life outside of racing, and I understand. Letting the clutch out is hard to replace, but a good roller coaster isn't too bad.

send your letter and sign my name on it, I will agree with Pat

Or laying on the beach at Cancun or Cabo sipping on a Margarita or Corona!!

Don,
I love roller coasters, but they are no where close to letting clutch go,I can't believe you would even think such a thing,LOL

This is a joke so take it that way, The problem with NHRA is same as US goverment everyone that knows how to run them the right way is here on this web site,or fill in blank on location..LOL
but in all seriousness that is somewhat a fact,I see decisions that goverment, big corporations etc. make and wonder how could anyone with any common sense make some of these decisions they make?

I agree with Pat's letter.

I remember 20-25yrs ago the popular phrase was, "that person cannot do his/her job so we will just promote them and get them out of the way" Well guess who is in charge now!

Ron - I'm with you - those who don't like the direction our sport has taken should do what will make them happy even if it means finding another hobby .Peeing on our Wheaties because they aren't willing to change serves no purpose ............Personally I don't like many of the new rules and enhancements but since I'm not a rulesmaker I'll go along and continue having the time of my life even with them .Life's short and I want to enjoy every day left .

There are many on this board who spend everyday angry ................That won't be me ! ! !

As person that has been a spectator for the last 20 years as a kid and now an adult but has never raced I have some slight perspective. Half of the problem is nhra is ran as two separate parts, one the pros and the second the sportsmen. They have to be ran as one big event from top to bottom feeding both sides. We need the people to run the corporate then have racers to fix the racing part. A group of ex and current racers to go over all the rules and see what works and what doesn't. Get back to quarter-mile for all classes, that is what the sport is about. Stand behind the true performance of the cars and the diversity of each and every class. Feed the sportsmen classes because that is where your future pro stars come from. Highlight the sportsmen with their own show to give the tracks, racers and sponsors a little exposure. Tell the tv audience that there are 400-500 or more cars at a national event. How you can walk in the pits talk to the driver and the crews. Even if you can't hit a national event that we have tracks all over the country that run races every weekend with something for everybody. This is the best performance car show in the world come and get it you will never forget what you see. What happened to the buy a full seat but you will only need the edge commercial?
