Default Re: Surprise Coming For St. Louis ADRL SCS...

The DP's have trouble getting to 3250 with a hemi with the driver. Mine is probably one of the lightest around @ 3060 without a driver and a 360 which is about 30 lighter than a hemi. That's pro trans, 8 3/4, and all the other stuff. Bartons might be lighter except for the Dana. But then NHRA has the proposed weight of the natural v8's @ 3000 for the proposed shootout which is out of the question for a DP. Maybe the mustangs can get there or the new bowties. NHRA has also turned down a blower for mopar as well as a 3 speed for the v10, and no comment on the transmissions. If my information is right (which it probably ain't), the chevys all have glides, but a 3 speed is legal cause it's in the book. Actually that proposal had a lot of thought in it, but the weights and index won't make for competition, and you would have to run about 9.0 to get into the stock show. Maybe. Back to the weights on ADRL, I don't know what the final weights are. It sorta slipped by me. Looks like NHRA might want the same Mustang show. But who knows what the final outcome will be from either sanction. I still support both for the efforts. It's a lot of work and planning.

When the SCS was first announced I asked many times how the weight was going to be handled to keep it from being a CJ shootout and never got an answer. Now we know, they're not going to handle it.

I know it ruins your argument, Chris, but the ADRL DID let Dave run to "see what he does". I guess nobody remembers...or cares...when I addressed the situation in a previous thread.

Real simple guys , 2 valves will never run with 4 valves. Jesse did not set this up Jeff and Bret did . If you want to race ADRL SCS get your money out and hire a real engine builder like Patterson or Barton and you will go fast like Skillman did and Barton can . Thats what Im doing , Patterson building mine now. Im on the porch until I get some power to race with

ADRL , just let any corporate transmission run in the cars , 2 spd , 3 spd or stick who cares and for that matter give the mopar a spec blower

I have said on this forum before , to run real heads up racing all has to be equal to start , cubic inch , blower , throttle body and one weight for every one or it just wont work .

COPO Camaro's 4L blower stay home you cant run with the 5.4 blower motor either

Bo Stock all over (LMAO)

Congrats Drew and Jimmy

Jeff , tell Joey to take the valve covers off that car and work on it . See you soon and you can talk some stuff

I can't believe how things get twisted on here but I did say I would get hammered

Come on Bret - you let him run TTs - so you could see how it ran - then decide to disallow it when it turned out to be competitive - I was told the original plan was to allow the 3spd - by Jeff Teuton

And Bo - I have a lot of respect for you but you have know idea what we have done to ours and it is not competitive against a blown CJ - especially in bad air

We have definitely had the valve covers off of ours and yes we are a little faster than the other V10s but so what - we can't run with the blown CJs

I have to go to bed so I can get up early and go to work to make some more money to throw away drag racing LMFAO

Andy , I hear you loud and clear and fully understand . Im just messing with Jeff and Joey about the valve covers .

But being serious I dont believe that any 2 valve motor can run with a 4 valve motor all things equal .

Really? THAT'S what happened? Wow! I thought the three-speed was illegal in the Challenger, (since it was never offered as a factory option), before Dave ever ran.

Man! Thanks for that information. Even though I was there and you weren't, I would have never known the real story!

I have a proper amount of respect for you and what this SCS is trying to do – that said I know this is going to hurt me but…

More than a few people know the "real story" (Dave Thomas, Jeff Teuton and others) you did not have to be there to know what happened – it did not all happen at that race – BTW he was not the first to run a 3spd – it is legal in SS (go figure)

I know you work for ADRL but you should try to avoid journalistic bias – ADRL had a chance to do something great but in the end they turned into “NHRA” with paperwork rules which allow uneven competition in what was supposed to be a level playing field, heads up class

I agree with Bo four valves vs two and add a blower - game over

Now have it Bret …..
