Just so you guys know, Ford Racing does support the old cars. Click on the link below to the Ford Racing news letter.
Darrin, FE does stand for Ford Edsel, the engine was designed in the late 50's. http://e.adtrak360.com/q/hOgRAVQ_zCO...OLtNQioKkF636n |

As far as the FE standing for Ford Edsel I had heard from some of the old Ford engineers at Tripple E (EEE) building including The late Don Sullivan originally it stood for Ford Enginereed
It came out in 1958 same year as Edsel but was used in Mercurys and Ford heavy Trucks ( 361 & 391) class 8 trucks. I worked on a task force for excessive bore war in early 70s E&L Transport had a fleet of the heavy trucks used to haul Ford Products to dealers from the assembly plants. The thinking on the Ford Enginereed was to impress the truck market light, medium and heavy duty. Quote:

The MEL was only used in the Birds for 59 and only a handful were built John Holman got a few out of the Wixom Assembly Plant for his NASCAR Package, in 60 they returned to the 352 FE.

I thought FE stood for all the iron in their intake manifolds.

I've always heard the Ford/Edsel explanation also.
I actually think it means Friggin' Expensive because everything costs so much for these things..... ![]()
