I agree something is definitely going on - Myself and another racer traveling through New Jersey last Saturday morning (in separate tow rigs) on the way to Maple Grove were pulled over on - I-78 by a trooper who was so aggressive in his tactics to pull us over almost sent some poor family in a minivan to early graves.

As I walked up to my buddies rig the trooper was going on about rigs over 10K pounds & prize money changing hands etc... I guess luckily & as a courtesy, me being retired NYPD, he ended up just warning us that this was going to be the "new way" - to get up to speed with the laws - and to get the rigs in compliance - you really are at their mercy. Its really a shame that this has to be so complicated its almost impossible to understand.

Commerical Vehicle Safety blitz is starting on tues. June 4. SOOO, anybody heading, anywhere in this fair country, be extra sure all of your stuff is correct; tags up to date, lights,brakes,fuel storage, everything tied down properly.This is supposed to last for 72 hrs., but there could always be an early bird, or a slow running clock. Goodluck.

If you remember I posted last year at Topeka I was pulled over by Kansas DOT 1/2 mile from track.First question was where is your DOT # # 2 question was WHO IS YOUR SPONSOR I knew then what they were fishing for.So I played DUMB and said it is all personally funded .# 3 question Can WE SEE IN THE TRAILER. I said yes MAM .They said is the little decals on car all you sponsors ,I said no we win a prize if we win with there decal no money OK #4 question do you haul race fuel I said no we buy at track OK # 5 question Can we see registation Motor Home and Trailer Stacker Yes Mam .I went in motorhome and next thing I know Lady Cop was in the motorhome asking me IF MY SPONSOR PAYED FOR THIS NICE MOTOR HOME I answered no MAM my dime. Motor home and trailer registerd PRIVATE that is the Main thing to remember. This happened early in the week,when we got to the track we contacted head of security and I was told he made some calls and got it shut down. Did not check Length,Weight,Chains ,Break away NO SAFETY They let me go after a STATE POLICEMAN showed up

Just to let you all know June 4-6 is Roadcheck 2013. Its nationwide so if you dont think your stuff is right stay off the road.

Diaperman is correct, if registered in personal name, it is not a commercial vehicle. If it is registered in business name, becomes a grey area. 2 this is a hobby, you have to turn a profit for it to be a commercial business, does not matter there is prize money or sponsor money.
