I want to give accolades to DJ not for winning, but for what he did in the staging lanes minutes before his semi final run on Sunday.

I was standing near the side of a junior dragster that was in the next staging lane over from DJs Nova, where a kid was obviously nervous/stressed about his upcoming run. DJ who was getting ready himself (you wouldn't have known it by his relaxed demeanor) approached the kid and just told him to have fun with a big smile on his face.

Kids at that age (9-10) don't need to be that stressed about something that should be a lot of fun.

I'm not sure if DJ is a parent or not, but I wish I saw this more often by parents in any sport.
