What other tracks ? Down or up hill

In that thread I asked about Capitol in Maryland and never got an answer.

When NHRA ran points meets at Quaker, the indexs were adjusted..I think like 11.70=11.86 ..and 11.86 =12.02..Up up the hill for the burn out..Looking down the track it looks up hill, but I think it's just the shut down .

Don't mind the downhill but the uphill staging lanes (Seattle comes to mind) wreaks havoc on us stick guys. I always have to have the wheel turned when I come to a stop (to get some wheel lock from the spool) so I don't roll back into somebody when restarting the car.

Jim, that was a nice thing about Eagle Motorplex in Ashcroft BC, the downhill staging lanes meant no starting the car or pushing it, once you got into the lanes. Bremerton does run downhill , but I think not until after the finish line.

Coming back from INDY in 2004 we raced at Tri-State in Earlville.

I was going to visit my brother in Janesville, Wisconsin so I showed up a few days early to see about dropping our trailer. The rest of the crew headed out to the Field of Dreams.

I was met by the owner and invited it to drop the trailer and he gave me a guided tour in his Caprice with his puppy sitting on the back of the front seat.

What he told me was that the track was all concrete, family was in the business, Laser leveled and downhill 13' because NHRA gives you 1% (13.2') before a correction and sand blasted to rough it up. Still driving, we went up the shut off, down the return road and stopped in the level pit area. There was an uphill area to get to the staging lanes, because they ran downhill to the water boxes.

This is what you get when a plan for a racetrack comes together and it didn't hurt that they are a family of racers..

I love that place.....

Miramichi Dragway (New Brunswick Canada) really dives off around the 1/8, sitting on starting line you can't see finish line. Not sure what the elevation difference is from starting line to finish, just know its fast, a little better than Napierville.

@ Renegade in central WA the track is within a foot but the shutdown area drops 6 ft. (By google earth)

The16 ft rise in the shutdown area @ Pacific I didn't really notice racing there, but watching the national event held there, on tv, the top end camera made it way more evident visually.

I know the shutdown at Medford is uphill a fair bit, but is the 1/4 mile level? I certainly liked the downhill return road there, nice being able to coast back to the pits with the engine off, especially when it over 110 degrees in the summer!
