Chip dont tell me you dont have more fun in 1/4 than 1/8.You guys are die hards blindly moving as sheep with the herd Don't you get it I am a businessman I want the most people at my busniess and that means accomodating them, even if it gets down to stock and super stock running a quarter. The point is this year blows------ counts are way down fun racers not around and making other choices. If I am running the race I make them all happy and it can be done. Some of you guys act like everything is rosie and the racers are swamping the IHRA tracks well guess what they are not.Cut the **** look at the races on TV where all the cars are they are 1/4 mile thats where the fun is.This week we have choices Cayuga for stock super stock,Pittsburgh(I love Pittsburgh and the guys who own it) or I can go to Dunn Tire and race 1/8th mile in my back yard.Just look at this post and how many people are not coming because it is 1/8-------dont they count just ignore them they are assholes? I dont think so.

I don't think you will make anyone happy at Pittsburgh. I was up there a couple years ago for the first pro-am they had there. Everyone was running about .3 slow, and people were wondering if there was something wrong with their cars, or griping about the track being slow. I think if most people give it a chance at the 1/8 mile at this track, they will enjoy the race more.

Chip, thirty-seven years ago (1972) at this track, cars were going 230+ and stopping just fine. Since then, the track's shutdown has been LENGTHENED, braking systems are BETTER, and the cars will be going SLOWER. And you still think there isn't enough room? The cars with stopping issues in 2009 might want to upgrade their brakes and/or use a parachute. Don't ruin the fun for the majority because of the minority.

Two weeks ago at Dunntire they went 172 in the 1/8th and if you ever raced there you know that the shut down is about as long as DJ Raisers education credentials.

Wait till the spectators find out it's an 1/8 th.I was surprised how many complained at Thompson ,OH.[it's a 1/4 mile track].We have very few fans show up now, than we give 'em 1/8 mile racing on a 1/4 mile track. We'll be there,....it's the home track, and like Paul said, the owners are great.

Byron - where we had 4 inches of rain in an hour Friday night before the race - couldn't get the shut down area dried without weepers. And boy did they try all day Saturday to give us a quarter mile track. But rather than call the race, they had us run 1/8th mile. I was not happy, many were not happy. We got the race in, but many didn't stay for Sunday because that too was going to be run 1/8th mile.
Alex runnered up at Byron in the Saturday race and won Sunday's event, so I guess he has no problem racing 1/8th mile, but he doesn't like it. We do all we can to support IHRA, but in the end Paul is right, they need to start listening to their customers - fans and racers. We don't know why more and more IHRA events are becoming 1/8th mile. It needs to stop! Our last divisional at Osceola next weekend is 1/8th mile, but we suspect that has more to do with the TS crash that happened last year than anything else. We aren't happy, but we will go to support IHRA and a great local track. Others, however will not and it's too bad for all of us. Speaking for ourselves, the Midwest is quarter mile racing and should stay that way. |

They shortened all the points races where they crashed a T/S car in 08. Sandy Wilkins crashed at Pittsburgh last year. Its probably not too short, its too bumpy. I feel the bumps in my S/S car. And I don't even feel the bumps in the S/S car that get the dragster bouncing the rear tires off the ground... Get over it, either go or don't go, who cares. At this point they(IHRA) will either lose the people that don't want to race 1/4 mi there so its a wash either way. 1/8th mile is alot less wear and tear on the race car and thats a good thing to me.
I don't care for the drive and the lack of scales. Couple hundred thou in lighting and $500 scales?!!... but I'll probably still go. Three events in one, thats three chances for me to screw up... or maybe find an accorn.. |
