I would imagine, though I have not talked to Rich,it would be 500 s/ss cars that would just run all out, and they would pick 16 just like they do on a regular show. It would just be s/ss cars only. LIke my Dad said (qtrmile2) how cool would that be. When is the last time you've seen the stands full for s/ss at a national event? The people would go nuts the way our cars leave the starting line. It sounds like Rich is ready and like Gary said here's our chance so who wants to.

In essence it will be like a cross between class runoffs and Top Stock, Jr. Stock, etc. It would encompass a closely matched group of cars for a heads up throw-down match. I hope the interest it could generate will be enough to spin off to a new series. Sorry, I'm getting ahead of myself. But I'll guarantee it won't be the same group twice. It's a chance to show the world who the quickest is in each class while having an equal shot at the gold.

OK. I think pinks is a great deal for bracket racers and class racers that run 10.0 to 10.5. This seems to be the medium picked on each show. Every once in a while you may get 9 sec cars but that is not that often. So how long do you honestly think stockers and super stockers that have spent tons of money on combo's that do not run in the above ratio will attend these events? I am building a K/SA car for a reason. All of the class racers built their cars for a reason and a specific class. With an event that grosses 1.0M average I don't see them changing the rules just for us. Also, Gary said what Rich is wanting to do DOES NOT include TV time so there goes most of your support for sponsorship and contingency. Stock and Superstock needs to be fixed but if you turm our class into run what you brung heads up grudge racing we will quickly become the laughing stock of Drag Racing. People will think we are just plain stupid to spend 30K+ on a car when backyard guys are building 10 sec nitrous cars for a few thousand bucks and running the same time competeing at the same event.

Just got off the phone with a great friend of mine that worked for Bruton Smith for several years. Here is the deal. Bring him 500 stock/superstock cars. 60 buck entry 2 day event. All cars run class index with a .500 max breakout. Must adhere to NHRA rules and class. Provide proof of class and follow NHRA tech guidelines. 10K winner takes all. Says he will do this every weekend the track is available. 2 time trials and we start racing and EVERYBODY gets a chance at the prize.

![]() I must stress the initial event would be and Armdrop Live deal, not the TV version. Provided we put on our "Sunday's Best" in terms of performance and personality, coupled with Rich's large fan base it'll draw spectators. IF, and I mean IF we get a TV deal we can count on quality above and beyond our wildest dreams...that's Rich's true talent!!!

If Bruton's willing to put on such a deal, it will improve our exposure. But the focus is drawing new fans. How are they proposing to do it? Rich already has a large fan following, which is what we need.

Gary, if I understand the way it would work, all stockers would get x amount of time trials. Your fastest time run would be your qualifying time just like it is at any stock meet. The Pinks guys are looking for the closest 16 cars in ET picked from the qualifying sheet. I did this with all the Stock qualifiers at Indy in 2009. There were 149 cars on the sheet ranging from 9.749 to 17.073 seconds. The closest 16 cars are shown below with their qualifying spot at Indy listed first:
146 A/S Tony Tosta 69 Camaro 10.454 82 B/SA Bill Hawk 67 Shelby 10.458 19 C/SA Sam Pourciau 02 Camaro 10.481 20 C/SA Bobby Warren 98 Firebird 10.484 99 B/SA Steven Welker 69 Camaro 10.486 103 B/SA Jerry Emmons 69 Camaro 10.490 23 C/SA Peter Biondo 69 Camaro 10.498 110 B/SA Dwayne Scheitlin 71 Challenger 10.500 112 B/SA Francois Periard 68 Roadrunner 10.502 113 B/SA Brian Livengood 69 Camaro 10.503 43 C/S Kenny Vaughn 96 Corvette 10.504 27 C/SA Amy Faulk 01 Firebird 10.515 30 C/SA Jeff Taylor 69 Camaro 10.520 123 B/SA Chad Loge 70 Roadrunner 10.534 37 C/SA Bud Rowe 94 Camaro 10.535 39 C/SA Ed Bennett 96 Corvette 10.539 There is a .085 spread between the quickest and slowest of the 16. In a hands drop race, this might be interesting. Travis (Disclaimer: Opinions expressed and race data editing by me on this forum are exactly that, my opinions and race data editing.) Travis, you are correct in how Pinks All Out works. All classes run two runs on the tree, two runs arm drop. In each class look to see where there are 16 almost dead even et runs. Exactly as you have done. If no other class can produce 16 any closer together, that is your 16 car field. Each run is all out no lifting or brake, if they detect it from your track times you are disqualified. And you are right that 10.48 group, if that is flat out time runs, would be something to see. I have seen those cars run and yes when the wheel go up the crowd will go wild.
Now do we start to see how much fun this could be. |
